Rewind the clock back 15 years.

Whenever one wished to discuss cricket, it would have had to be physically with another person, whether in person or over the Nokia (remember the Nokia?) phone. Now, views can be shared far and wide, in front of the eyes of thousands (sometimes millions).

The content ranges from general shitposting to some quality insights. Here, we have more of the former, which I love. With the IPL Auction generating so many talking points, fans on social were always going to have their say.

Below are some of the best and funniest takes from the Auction:

The record-breaker.

Pat Cummins became the most expensive foreign player in IPL history.

Does he have Mitchell Starc, who chose to opt out, to thank for that? That’s perhaps a debate for another day.

For now, enjoy this beauty from @_Mubean__. No words. Just letting the perfect picture do the talking.

And Pat’s loving life. @The_tangled_one gives us an insight.

Mitchell, should you have given it a go? @absycric has the Kane-Starc gossip.

Sam Curran? Isn’t he too young?

CSK signed Sam Curran. Rather than talking about his cricket ability, fans questioned why CSK went for a player under 35.

@NorthStandGang had me in stitches…

And @AN_EVILSOUL preaches what we are all thinking…

Piyush Chawla? What for?

CSK certainly raised eyebrows when they purchased Piyush Chawla when they already have a Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma in their ranks.

Fans had their theories. Here is @suneerchowdhary

@IndianCaptain with a fine take, too.

Or what if CSK just wants to get the better of MI? @k_vijayendra8 is living in 3019 with such views.

Maxwell loving life, too.

@CSKian716 summarising the IPL Auction in one tweet.

“KEEP GOING”. @_namanrathod.

Morris: A good buy for RCB?

@VIPER_talks thinks so. Hilarious stuff.

“Let things settle”

SRH took their time to get involved. @Krishna_ss_ noticed. But, SRH finished with a decent Auction performance!

New day, new franchise for Aaron Finch

@sagarcasm gives us an insight into Aaron Finch’s life after moving to another IPL franchise…

…. And for the ones who missed out

@Flashcric tried to be nice about it by linking it to one of the greatest shows, The Simpsons.
