Cricket News: 3 players Gujarat Titans (GT) can target in the IPL 2023 Auction | Players who GT may target for IPL 2023

Gujarat Titans won the IPL in their debut season in what was a magnificent achievement. They weren’t rated that highly after the IPL 2022 auction but proved that on-field performance matters the most, making full use of the available resources.

Rahul Tewatia was brilliant with the bat while they also used Rashid Khan’s batting abilities to win them a couple of games. And, of course, Hardik Pandya led the side really well.

Gujarat has a strong core in Hardik, Rashid, Shubman Gill, David Miller,Tewatia, Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammad Shami. They also have exciting youngsters in Sai Kishore, Abhinav Manohar, Sai Sudarshan and Yash Dayal.

Gujarat looks settled as a team but there are some areas where they can upgrade and they’ll look to do that in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction.

Players Gujarat Titans (GT) can target for IPL 2023

Reece Topley

Reece Topley will be an excellent pick for the Titans. Gujarat desperately need an overseas pacer after they traded Lockie Ferguson to KKR, with only Alzarri Joseph remaining.

Topley can pick wickets with the new ball and towards the end as well. He has been in exceptional form recently, and will offer value throughout the season.

Shivam Mavi

Gujarat Titans may look to pick Shivam Mavi. He is young, talented and has good IPL experience. Mohammed Shami is the leader of their pack with the ball but he has been a little inconsistent in T20 cricket.

Then, there is Yash Dayal and Darshan Nalkande. Dayal was excellent for the Titans while Nalkande was also decent, but both are very new to the IPL. Gujarat may look to bring in someone like Mavi who has IPL experience and can come into the eleven if someone is injured or having bad campaign.

Harry Brook

Harry Brook is one of the newest sensations in world cricket. He bats in the middle order and plays very aggressively. He is a good player of spin bowling and is not troubled by high pace.

Brook can be a top buy for Gujarat as Matthew Wade hasn’t done a great job in the IPL and Saha has done well at the top. The other thing is that Gujarat needs to increase their batting strength. By having Brook in the XI, Hardik can bat at three followed by Miller and the Englishman with Tewatia and Rashid in the lower order.

Brook can steady the ship in case of a collapse without sacrificing the scoring rate or he can just come in and start attacking. Gujarat escaped defeat quite a few times last year, which won’t always be the case going forward. Having the insurance of Brook adds quality to the Titans’ side.

Gujarat has a settled squad and they only need a good overseas pacer and a good batter in the middle to strengthen their batting. As mentioned earlier, they used their resources quite well, especially with the bat. Gujarat Titans will look to fill the remaining spots and build a strong squad for IPL 2023 to defend their title.
