Cricket News: When is the IND vs PAK match in Asia Cup 2023? | Details on Pakistan vs India in the 2023 Asia Cup
India and Pakistan will meet in the 2023 Asia Cup on September 2. The match will be played at Pallekele in Sri Lanka, a few days after the tournament begins on August 30 according to ESPNcricinfo.
The two Asian heavyweights are in Group A alongside Nepal. Pakistan, Bangladesh and current Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka are in Group B. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Super Fours stage.
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka will host matches after much deliberation on where the tournament will be located. Four will take place in Pakistan, while Sri Lanka will host the remaining nine according to the draft schedule put forward by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
A rare IND vs PAK ODI awaits in 2023
India-Pakistan tussles are now limited to multi-team tournaments, namely the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and Asia Cup. The last time the two teams met in an ODI was in the 2019 World Cup, where Rohit Sharma starred with 140 in an 89-run win for India.
There is a possibility India and Pakistan will meet three times in this tournament. They will meet on September 2 and could go head-to-head in the Super Fours and Final should they both qualify.
According to the draft schedule, Pakistan is slated to host one Super Fours match. Should both India and Pakistan progress to this stage, they will meet again in Kandy (Pallekele) on September 10.
The final schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
