India’s Men’s Selection Committee on Saturday named Harsh Dubey as Washington Sundar’s replacement ahead of the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s.

Sundar was ruled out of the final match after suffering a right hamstring injury during the second ODI at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Sundar will undergo scans and get a specialist’s opinion. The medical assessment will determine the next steps regarding his rehabilitation.

Dubey’s inclusion comes ahead of a crucial match with the three-match series tied at one-all. England hit back from a loss in Birmingham to level the series in Cardiff setting up a winner-takes-all showdown at the Home of Cricket.

The hosts will be encouraged by Joe Root’s superb, unbeaten 99 in the second ODI. The former England captain has shown once again that he can steady the ship when under pressure with five successive ODI half-centuries to his name.

The BCCI in their latest squad update didn’t mention KL Rahul’s availability for Sunday’s match. Rahul missed the second encounter due to illness, according to Indian Captain Shubman Gill at the toss.
