Sikandar Raza believes Zimbabwe have a strong chance of beating India in their upcoming three-match T20I series. The Zimbabwe captain says both teams are in a bit of a transition at the moment, but recent form can count for plenty.
India, after winning the T20 World Cup, have hit a wall. They lost all six completed T20Is in their recently-completed tour of Ireland and England, with Shreyas Iyer vowing to turn things around after a tough start.
Zimbabwe themselves have enjoyed a solid year, qualifying for the Super Eights of the T20 World Cup. They lost the recent T20I series against Bangladesh 2-1, but Raza is still confident of a strong showing.

India start the series as strong favourites. However, the pitches in Harare will likely offer bounce to the seamers, and the Zimbabweans have the bowlers to exploit the conditions.
Also, India did struggle with bounce throughout the England series in particular.
“Both countries will have an equal chance in this series. But one thing I am very sure about is that because Zimbabwe has been playing very consistent and very entertaining cricket, I can say this for sure that this series will be very entertaining,” Raza told Star Sports, as quoted by India Today.
“Yes, India is going through a transition and to some extent you’ll see Zimbabwe is also gonna have a little bit of transition happening as well. I don’t see it as a one-sided series.”
The series begins on Thursday July 23, followed by the second and third T20Is on 25 and 26 July. India are expected to win, but the positive signs that Zimbabwe have shown in recent times suggests they cannot be taken lightly.
