Jos Buttler surpassed Kieron Pollard to become the highest run scorer in T20 cricket after playing a match winning innings for Manchester Super Giants against Welsh Fire. The England keeper-batter hit six sixes in his knock as Manchester Super Giants ended their run of three consecutive defeats in emphatic style

Buttler surpassed Pollard’s career total of 14,803 T20 runs when he smashed the first of three consecutive sixes off Marco Jansen. It was another significant moment in an already impressive T20 career.

Buttler, after the match said he was “really proud” to hit the milestone. He also said that someone will surpass this feat in the future, and he believes Indian prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on track for greatness.

“Someone will surpass it one day – and his name’s probably Sooryavanshi – but it’s a proud moment,” Buttler said.

The Hundred is played over 20 sets of five balls, rather than the traditional 20 overs. But for the purpose of statistics, The Hundred is classed as T20 performances.

TABLE – Stats updated after Jos Buttler became the leading run scorer in T20 cricket following his innings for Manchester Super Giants against Welsh Fire.

Kieron Pollard will have a chance to reclaim the top spot when he plays for Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League.

Alex Hales, fourth in the all-time T20 run scorers list, will also participate in the tournament and has a chance to improve his positioning in the list. However, Pollard has gradually scaled down his playing commitments, with coaching roles taking precedence, though he has still featured in selected franchise competitions in the past.
