Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was part of India’s tour of Zimbabwe last month, has now shifted his focus to red-ball cricket. The young batter is currently training at the Rajasthan Royals (RR) Academy in Talegaon near Nagpur under the supervision of RR assistant coach Vikram Rathour, who has been batting coach of Team India in the past.
Sooryavanshi had a good tour of Zimbabwe, bagging Player of the Series. He made his debut against England in August 2026 and became the youngest Indian to play international cricket. He also finished as the highest run-scorer in IPL 2026.
Sooryavanshi is considered by many to be a white ball specialist but he has made it clear that he wants to build his game in the longer format too. His current training program is proof of that.
RR have arranged a 10-day training camp at their Talegaon academy ahead of the Duleep Trophy. The center has practice pitches laid out with a range of soils to replicate home playing conditions and facilities built for red-ball cricket. Fast bowlers Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma, Sushant Mishra, Shubham Dubey and Ravi Singh are also attending the camp.

The players will take part in a 10-day training camp to prepare for the upcoming domestic season. Each player is on his own program, tailored to individual needs.
The program will involve batting and bowling practice, fitness sessions and recovery work to improve overall readiness before the season. Romi Bhinder, franchise’s Head of Cricket Operations, said, “The camp combines technical skill development, strength and conditioning, workload management, recovery and performance analysis through individually tailored training programmes. The objective is to ensure players return to competitive cricket physically prepared, technically refined and ready for the demands of the domestic season”
“The High Performance Centre was established with a long-term vision of creating a world-class environment where our players can develop throughout the year. Our focus is on the overall cricketing development of every player, which extends far beyond the IPL season in April and May,” he continued, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Ishan Kishan has been named the captain of East Zone for the 2026 Duleep Trophy with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vice captain. The season is scheduled to start at Bengaluru from August 23, 2026.
