The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) submitted a complaint to Sky Sports after Michael Atherton’s interview with Imran Khan’s sons. The PCB protested for the segment not to go ahead, but broadcaster aired the interview during the lunch break following an 18-minute delay due to those conversations.
It has been revealed that the PCB considered telling the players not to go back onto the field for the second session.

During the interview, Suleiman and Kasim Khan spoke of their concern regarding the health of their father, who has been in isolation in prison for the past three years.
Imran’s health – and the manner in which he has been treated – has been a topic of conversation in recent times. Last week, 21 former Tets captains, wrote a second letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requesting that Khan receives proper care. It is the second letter to the government following the first in February, which was signed by 14 former captains.
Greg Chappell, one of the former captains who signed the letter, spoke of Imran Khan’s situation in an interview with The Grade Cricketer Podcast earlier this week.
“He’s been in isolation for three years. I don’t know how anyone deals with that,” Chappell said. “Imran is as strong physically and mentally as anyone that I’ve played cricket against, but I don’t know how you deal with absolute isolation for three years.
“I don’t think he’s allowed books to read, he’s pretty much got to sit there and behave himself. He’s in the dark most of the time.
“After our first letter in February this year, the boys [Imran’s two sons] got two hours on the phone with him for the first time in two years and a bit that he’s been in isolation. They’re not allowed any conversations with him.”
However, the Pakistan government has denied such allegations. In a statement to the Associated Press last week, the government said that Khan has received more than 900 visits from family, doctors and lawyers since August 2023.
