Imam-ul-Haq’s calf injury did not just come under scrutiny from Nasser Hussain, but also from former Pakistan chief selector Mohammad Wasim.
The Pakistan opener was ruled out of the remainder of the Lord’s Test after suffering a calf strain on day one. Remarkably, Wasim alleges Imam has a history of faking injuries to avoid playing.

Wasim alleges Imam is not injured at Lord’s. The opener did not bat in Pakistan’s first innings, where the team was bundled out for just 110 in bowler-friendly conditions.
“Imam was not genuinely injured at Lord’s. He keeps faking injury. In the 2022 Multan Test, the physio had already warned me that Imam was likely to fake an injury soon. And he did exactly that,” Wasim said.
Faisal Iqbal has made a similar claim on social media. Responding to a post about Nasser Hussain’s surprise that Imam did not come out to bat, Iqbal also alleged that the opening batsman is faking injury.
“If @nassercricket would have asked me I would have already told him yesterday when imam faked injury & went off after looking at green Pitch, that he will NOT come to bat!!” wrote Iqbal on X.
“That much I know him as I was the head coach of Balochistan team for 2 years & I have seen all his dramas!”
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Imam suffered a low-grade calf strain.
“Scans later confirmed a low-grade calf strain and Imam is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of the Pakistan medical team,” the PCB said.
“His participation in the remainder of the Test depends on treatment leading to recovery.”
At the time of writing, England lead by 261 runs with seven wickets in hand as rain continues to impact the Lord’s Test. However, given the bowler-friendly conditions and Pakistan’s batting struggles, one feels that a result can be achieved in quick time across the final two days.
