Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has named his top 10 fast bowlers in Test cricket, with long-time teammate James Anderson taking the number one spot.

Along with Anderson, the list includes three Australians, two South Africans, one Indian, one West Indian, one New Zealander, and one Pakistani.

Here is Stuart Broad’s top 10:

  1. James Anderson (England)
  2. Glenn McGrath (Australia)
  3. Jasprit Bumrah (India)
  4. Shaun Pollock (South Africa)
  5. Curtly Ambrose (West Indies)
  6. Dale Steyn (South Africa)
  7. Wasim Akram (Pakistan)
  8. Pat Cummins (Australia)
  9. Richard Hadlee (New Zealand)
  10. Mitchell Johnson (Australia)

Broad included two current bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins – in his list. Kagiso Rabada received an honourable mention.

“He’s still in the middle of his career and doing phenomenal things. But it’s hard for me to think that I’ll see a better bowler than him,” Broad said about Jasprit Bumrah on Sky Sports’ YouTube Channel.

“He’s unique in how he runs up and delivers the ball. He is so hard to face and has an incredible out-swinger and an amazing in-swinger. He gets bounced and is rapid and can wobble the seam. So, his skill set in tests is outstanding. He averages under 20 while playing a lot of his games in India.”

On Cummins, Broad said “I think he’s a great of the modern game. He’s gone through that generation that played on the slightly flatter Australian pitches.. yes, in the last three or four years, he’s played on pitches that have done a lot more in Australia, but incredible athlete, keeps his pace up throughout spells, has an ability to bowl short at you and bring the stumps into play.

“The pain he would bring me when he would get our best players out, which he has a great record of doing. He would get Root out or Stokes out with unplayable deliveries.

“Know how to work a batter over and hugely consistent.”
