The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has approved a new six-team domestic competition that will bring First Class, List A One-Day, and T20 cricket under one roof. The decision was made at a virtual board meeting on Sunday, September 20th. The T20 tournament is set to be the first event under the new system.
The BCB has not announced the exact dates for the T20 competition, but the tentative window of December 2026 has been kept. The name of the competition is also yet to be decided. The board has also decided to grant ownership rights for the six teams to established corporate and financial institutions in Bangladesh.
The new structure is expected to offer a more organised setup to domestic cricket with the same teams participating across the three formats. The BCB is keen to bring institutional investment to the domestic game and will initially offer the ownership rights for a period of three years.
Match fees for domestic players will increase
The BCB has approved the new competition along with revising the match fees for the players in the men’s, women’s and age group cricket.
A fee of BDT 1.5 lakh would be paid to the players in men’s First Class cricket for each four-day match, while a List A One Day game would fetch a fee of BDT 1 lakh. Domestic T20 players will get BDT 80,000 per game. The match fee for the NCL second eleven has been increased to BDT 15,000.
Women’s domestic cricket has also seen revised match fees. The players will get BDT 40,000 for playing a three-day game, BDT 30,000 for a one-day match, and BDT 20,000 for a T20 fixture. The daily allowance at the Under-19 level has been increased from BDT 10,000 to BDT 20,000.

“The Board agreed in principle to introduce a six-team domestic competition structure covering three formats – First Class (four-day), List A One-Day and List A T20 – under a single competition framework,” a BCB official statement as quoted by Cricbuzz.
“Under the proposed structure, team ownership rights will be offered to established and reputed corporate and financial institutions in Bangladesh for an initial period of three years. The Board noted that the T20 competition will be the first event under the new structure, with a tentative window in December 2026.”
