The Cricket Cranes – Uganda Cricket Team – are all set to feature in their first-ever ICC T20 World Cup as they kick-start their campaign with a game against Afghanistan. The story of the Uganda cricket team has been incredible but here is their chance to impress the world in the eye-centered World Cup.

On the other hand, the considered underdogs of the season and group C, the Afghanistan team, have their strongest side ever featured till today. Afghanistan’s bowling, especially the tweakers, is their greatest strength, capable of dominating any opponent in the middle overs. Although their batting is not as intimidating it still looks well rounded.

The World Cup is already captivating the world with a record-breaking chase by the hosts and a super over between OMAN and NAM done and dusted in the initial two days. The cricket fans are once again ready for the exhilarating clash between the two sides at Guyana.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for the 5th Match of the 2024 T20 World Cup: Top Dream11 Picks for AFG vs UGA

Top Batter Picks:

  • Rahmanullah Gurbaz is in good touch with the bat. The wicketkeeper is coming from the IPL champion side KKR. If he gets going into the powerplay, can be the greatest threat for the opponents.
  • Najibullah Zadran: The belligerent left-hander can rattle through the middle overs keeping the scoring rate high over his batting period. He strikes at 155.8 against the left-arm orthodox bowlers, averaging 67.
  • Roger Mukasa was the second highest T20I run scorer in 2023 with 738 runs to his name. He has got the potential to score runs with a decent strike rate.
  • Left hander Simon Ssesazi was the fourth highest T20I run scorer in 2023 just below SKY, who was third and below Mukasa, scoring 725 runs.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Azmatullah Omarzai: Omarzai had a great ODI WC last year with his all-round performance. He was also part of Gujrat Titans side this IPL season where he performed decently with the ball. He adds up good value to your fantasy team. He scored 48 in the warm up game against Scotland.
  • 39 years old Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been excellent hitter and an adequate bowler who adds more strength to the line-up. He is just seven wickets short of 100 in T20Is. He is ranked third in the ICC T20I all-rounders rankings.
  • Mumbai-based player Alpesh Ramjani was the top performer for the Uganda side in the Africa region Qualifier for this tournament where he scalped 12 wickets in six innings.
  • Riazat Ali Shah is another all-rounder from Uganda who contributed to the Qualifier tournament due to which they are here. He scored 132 runs and took seven wickets in six games throughout.

Top bowler picks:

  • Captain Rashid Khan has been an asset for his side over the years and would wish to start the tournament on a high. Rashid has been a beacon of excellence and consistency in T20 cricket all over the globe. Occasionally, he can be handy well with the bat as too.
  • Rashid Khan has played six matches on this ground, taking five wickets at an economy of 5.22.
  • Fazalhaq Farooqi plays a pivotal role with his left-arm pace in Afghanistan’s combination of spin maestros. He can get through the top order in the powerplay itself which can put his side in the commanding position. He has a brilliant economy of 6.74 in T20Is. Against left-arm batters, his bowling average is 15.5 with economy just below six.
  • Another India-based player in the Uganda side, Dinesh Nakrani, has featured for Saurashtra in FC cricket in India. He took six wickets in the African Qualifier and is a good left-arm pacer. In T20Is, he has 67 wickets in 53 innings bowling at an economy of 5.62.

Other players to consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Mujeeb Ur Rahman has a specified role in the team – bowling in powerplay. He can be a good pick for your fantasy team on a comparatively dry pitch at Guyana. He scalped two wickets in a warmup game against Scotland.
  • Naveen-ul-Haq scalped 14 wickets in 10 innings in the recent IPL and is looking in good rhythm with the ball. Along with him, Gulbadin Naib is another player to watch out for the Afghanistan side who performed fantastically in the recently played warm-up game with the bat (69 off 30) and ball (1/5).
  • Brother of Simon Ssesazi, Henry Ssenyondo, left-arm orthodox, performed well in the warmup game against Namibia with bowling figures of 3-14-2.

Providence Stadium Guyana Pitch Report and Weather

This will be the second game at the Providence thus far which traditionally is a slowish surface. 150-160 is the average first innings score here these days. Spinners would probably enjoy this venue.

Cloudy weather is forecasted with minimal chances of rain. If rain interrupts, it shouldn’t be a long delay.
