The sound of a ‘crunch’ rings around BBL circles right now, as a crunch game awaits us on this Tuesday. Two sides, who are both in fine touch, do battle as the race for the playoffs continues to heat up.

Perth Scorchers were the competition’s form team, until a defeat against Sydney Sixers last time out put a little burst in the bubble. Today, they have the chance to put some air back into that bubble, as a win here will take them up to second place. It will be quite the achievement given the awful start they had to the season, which was culminated in three defeats, all away from home.

So, how will the Scorchers fare away from Perth this time? They meet the Brisbane Heat in the unfamiliar surroundings of Docklands Stadium in Melbourne, which will be a test of both teams’ abilities to hit the ground running. The Heat, like the Scorchers, have won four of their past five games, and the form of Joe Burns, along with their promising bowling efforts, are reasons for optimism.

An interesting and potentially brilliant match awaits.

Docklands Melbourne Pitch Report and Weather

This ground has historically been a slow, low pitch, with batsmen often struggling to time the ball. It remains to be seen how the surface plays this season, as this will be the first game on this ground in BBL 10. A score in the region of 150 can be competitive.

A cool day is forecast in Melbourne with no rain, but even if there was rain, the ground has a roof which can be used.

Match Prediction

This has the potential to be a cracking match. The Heat’s good form, coupled with Scorchers’ struggles away from home earlier in this season, makes for an interesting game. However, the Scorchers’ greater depth could prove crucial.
