It’s the first Super Sunday in the Big Bash League as the Adelaide Strikers meet the Hobart Hurricanes. The Hobart Hurricanes go into the encounter on the back of a victory on the opening day against the defending champions Sydney Sixers. On the other hand, the Strikers will be plying their trade in BBL 10 for the first time.
The Strikers are coming into this tournament after what was an impressive effort tournament last season as they finished third on the points table. However, they couldn’t get past the knockout match against the Thunder.
In this edition, they have added a few players, notably Matt Renshaw from the Heat side. Billy Stanlake will be plying his trade for the Melbourne Stars, this season.
The absence of regular players will be a worrying part and their performance in the first half can determine their final position on the points table. Although Rashid Khan and Wes Agar’s ability to take wickets is a major strength and the availability of the duo is pleasant news for the BBL 07 champions.
The Hobart Hurricanes will be stepping out on the field as a confident team. The Sydney Sixers were comfortably placed and even won the Bash Boost point but Hobart Hurricanes made a comeback conceding just 77 runs in the final 10 overs.

Adelaide Strikers
- Phil Salt had a strike rate of 146 in the powerplay last season and he will play a crucial role for the Strikers.
- Jake Weatherald has over 300 runs for the Strikers against Hurricanes, at a respectable average of 33.78 and SR 139.45. This includes a century in the BBL 07 Final.
- Peter Siddle picked 19 wickets in the BBL 09 at an average of 18.26.
- Rashid Khan has picked 56 wickets in his BBL career at an economy rate of 6.3. Interestingly, he has just four wickets in six matches against the Hurricanes. Can he improve on this?
- Jonathan Wells in BBL 09 scored 476 runs in BBL 09 at a strike rate of 136.
Hobart Hurricanes
- Colin Ingram who is in the squad as a cover for David Malan scored an impressive half-century in the first game
- Hurricanes debutant Tim David scored a quickfire fifty and will be expected to be a key player against the Strikers as well.
- D’Arcy Short is the leading run-scorers in the matches between the two sides (427, avg. 61.00).

- Historically, the Strikers have had an upper-hand over the Hurricanes, winning 8 matches while losing only 5. But in the last two seasons, they have won a couple of games apiece.
- The Hurricanes have won 2 out of the 3 completed games at the Bellerive Oval between the two sides but the last game was played back in January 2018.
