BBL 2021/22 Match 13: STA vs SIX Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | STA vs SIX Dream11 Prediction Today | Stars vs Sixers Key Players | MCG Pitch Report
Just a week-and-a-half ago, Sydney Sixers inflicted the biggest ever BBL defeat on Melbourne Stars. The 152-run annihilation, set up by Josh Philippe (83) and Moises Henriques (76*) gave the back-to-back champions the most perfect start to the season.
However, fast forward 10 days later and things are looking quite different. The Sixers endured two rocky games against Hobart Hurricanes, winning one (after being reduced to 39/5) and losing the other. The Stars, on the other hand, beat Sydney Thunder twice, with Marcus Stoinis, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Andre Russell giving this team a great deal of strength on paper.
With these players now on deck, the Stars are well placed to try and gain some revenge. Russell was outstanding against the Thunder in combination with an efficient bowling attack that was originally depleted the last time they came up against the Sixers. If they can beat the Sixers here, it will certainly send a message to the rest of the competition.
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Melbourne Stars:
- Glenn Maxwell has scored the most runs in Stars-Sixers matches, with 573 at a superb average of 44.08 and strike rate of 154.45. He missed out against the Sixers 10 days ago (4), but he will be looking to make amends after looking good last match vs Thunder (40 off 25 balls).
- Maxwell has the most T20 runs of any player at the MCG. The right-hander has struck 967 runs in 40 innings at an average of 29.30 and strike rate of 138.94.
- Andre Russell is in brilliant touch. The all-rounder smashed 42* off 21 balls in a player of the match performance vs Thunder, soon after smashing 90* off 32 balls in the T10 Final.
- Marcus Stoinis is yet to fire in BBL 11 (13 off 13 balls and 31 off 30 balls), but today could be his day. He scored a superb 147 on this ground against the Sixers a few years ago, part of 280 runs against them at an average of 40.00 and strike rate of 165.58.
- Stoinis has scored the fourth-most runs in all T20s at the MCG. The opener has struck 836 runs in 31 innings at an average of 33.44 and strike rate of 129.21.
- Hilton Cartwright loves batting at the MCG. The in-form right-hander has struck 262 runs on this ground at an average of 87.33 and strike rate of 143.96. Also, Cartwright has a decent career record vs Sixers: 12 inns, 231 runs, avg. 33.00, SR 142.59.
- Adam Zampa is equal with Maxwell for the most wickets by a Stars bowler vs Sixers (11). These 11 wickets have come in eight games at an average of 19.55 and economy rate of 7.17. Also, Zampa has the most wickets of any bowler in T20s at the MCG: 27 inns, 35 wickets, avg. 19.14, econ. 6.90.
- Brody Couch has taken five wickets in three games so far in BBL 11, including 2/36 vs Sixers. Qais Ahmed has also made a very good start to BBL 11, taking 1/23 and 2/17 so far.
Sydney Sixers:
- Josh Philippe slammed 83 off 47 balls 10 days ago vs Stars, albeit against a more inexperienced bowling attack. He is coming off another good score last game where he struck 72 off 46 balls against the Hurricanes.
- Moises Henriques is having a fine season so far. He smashed 76* (38) vs Stars, followed by 75 and 28* against the Hurricanes. Overall against Stars, Henriques has scored 374 runs at an average of 26.71 and strike rate of 147.83.
- Henriques will be aiming to improve his record at the MCG. He has scored 255 runs in 13 innings on this ground at an average of 21.25 and strike rate of 142.26.
- James Vince struck 44 off 26 balls 10 days ago vs Stars, but this will be a tougher test. Overall, he has scored 167 runs at 23.86 vs Stars, and averages similar at the MCG (20.86).
- Jordan Silk scored a duck in his only innings so far in BBL 11. Today, he meets a team he has a good record against: 11 inns, 246 runs, avg. 49.20, SR 115.49. Silk also has a fine record at the MCG: 6 inns, 210 runs, avg. 70, SR 125.
- Ben Dwarshuis is expected to return to the Sixers XI today. He has the most wickets in Stars-Sixers matches with 17 in 12 matches at an average of 21.06 and economy rate of 8.17.
- Dwarshuis also has 12 wickets in eight matches at the MCG at an average of 21.17 and strike rate of 15.
- Steve O’Keefe blew the Stars away 10 days ago with figures of 4/14. The Stars do have their full team on paper today, so O’Keefe will be key in limiting their progress, especially in the powerplay.
- Sean Abbott has taken 15 wickets in 11 matches at the MCG (avg. 20.20) and 13 wickets in 11 matches vs Stars (avg. 21.92).

MCG Pitch Report and Weather
There is a chance of a shower in the early afternoon in Melbourne, but the conditions should be fine for the match. Another cold evening is forecast, with a top of just 18 degrees during the day.
The Stars won a tight match vs Thunder on this ground last week (165 vs 161), with the surface proving to be a pretty good one for batting. Expect another easy-paced track here, with the very large square boundaries bound to have the bowlers bowling shorter of a length.
Slowers balls into the pitch will be key. The likes of Dan Christian, Tom Curran and Chris Jordan can do this well for the Sixers. Nathan Coulter-Nile will be key for the Stars in this regard.
