BBL 2021/22 Match 8: SIX vs HUR Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | SIX vs HUR Dream11 Prediction Today | Sixers vs Hurricanes Key Players | SCG Pitch Report
In a matter of a few days, Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers will do battle once again.
And the Hurricanes will be looking to right the wrongs of a big missed opportunity a few days ago. They restricted the champions to 39/5 before letting the advantage slip, and then an awfully slow start with the bat meant they were always playing catch up. These are two key areas to work on today at the SCG, as they aim to improve on a poor season last year.
However, what the game showed is the Sydney Sixers’ superb depth. Moises Henriques has been absolutely outstanding, and the bowling attack has so many options to turn to in times of need. They will be aiming for more of the same today by limiting the Hurricanes top order, thus putting that middle order under pressure. Also, they will be out for more runs at the top themselves.
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Sydney Sixers:
- What a start to the new season for Moises Henriques. The skipper has smashed scores of 76* (38) and 73 (48) in the first two games. His knock of 73 against the Hurricanes got the Sixers out of a very difficult position.
- Josh Philippe smashed 83 (49) at the SCG last week vs Stars. He has 473 runs on this ground at an average of 33.79 and strike rate of 142.04.
- Philippe will be aiming to improve his record against the Hurricanes. He has made a score of 86 against them at the SCG, but his remaining six innings have yielded just 60 runs, including an 11-ball 5 a few days ago.
- James Vince also missed out a few days ago in Launceston (13 off 12 balls). Overall vs Hurricanes, Vince has struck 178 runs at an average of 35.60 and strike rate of 136.92.
- Vince loves batting at the SCG. The right-hander has smashed 526 runs in 15 matches on this ground at an average of 43.83 and strike rate of 144.11.
- Dan Christian has made a slow start to BBL 11, but he can fire at any moment. The all-rounder has a total of 256 runs in 13 matches vs Hurricanes at an average of 28.44 and strike rate of 152.38. He also has 10 wickets.
- Tom Curran had a blinder a few nights ago vs Hurricanes. He scored 27 (part of a 62-run stand) and took 3/27. Also, he has taken 18 wickets in 13 innings at the SCG.
- If picked, Sean Abbott will be key. The right-arm seamer has the most wickets in Sixers-Hurricanes matches with 14 scalps in eight matches at an average of 14.93 and economy rate of 7.46.
- Also, Abbott has the most T20 wickets of any bowler at the SCG. He has taken 51 scalps in 34 innings at an average of 18.90 and strike rate of 13.41.
- Ben Dwarshuis is back in the Sixers squad. He has 11 wickets in eight matches vs Hurricanes as well as 30 scalps in 25 matches at the SCG.
Hobart Hurricanes:
- Can D’Arcy Short bounce back after a huge struggle a few days ago? The left-hander scored 21 off 36 balls which cost the Hurricanes dearly. Short has the most runs of any player in Sixers-Hurricanes matches with 343 in eight matches at an average of 42.88 and strike rate of 130.92.
- Matthew Wade is coming off a brilliant T20 World Cup campaign. The Hurricanes skipper has a great record vs Sixers, despite his 20 in the last game: 5 inns, 226 runs, avg. 45.20, SR 146.75.
- Also, Wade has a great record in T20s at the SCG. The left-hander has struck 274 runs in seven innings at an average of 45.67 and strike rate of 151.38.
- Peter Handscomb kept the Hurricanes in the contest a few days ago vs Sixers. He scored a 31-ball 47, and will be looking to build on a good display. Also, Handscomb has scored 136 runs in four T20s at the SCG at an average of 34 and strike rate of 144.68.
- Caleb Jewell recently scored a century in Sheffield Shield. He looked good a few days ago but got out just at the wrong time for the Hurricanes (20 off 11 balls). Can he build on that today?
- Tom Rogers bowled beautifully on Wednesday, taking 3/28. Nathan Ellis was expensive at the death (finished with 2/34), so he will be aiming to bounce back in this period today.
- Sandeep Lamichhane has taken figures of 2/24 and 1/24 against the Sixers. He will be key today on a SCG pitch that may offer some turn.

Sydney Sixers smashed over 200 in the first game at the SCG last week. Expect another good surface today, with some possible assistance with the new ball.
The three T20s on this ground last season saw some big scores. India chased 195 vs Australia, and then Australia defended 188 in the next match. In the BBL Final, the Sixers smashed 188 and beat the Scorchers by 27 runs.
There has been rain around all week in Sydney, but there shouldn’t be an issue today. Cloudy and cool weather is forecast, but there should be a full match.

Match Prediction
This has the makings of a good clash, with the Hurricanes very capable of challenging the Sixers again. If the team bowling first can restrict their opponent to under 160, they can go on to win the game.
