BBL09 Match 27: AS vs SS Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AS vs SS Dream11 | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Sixers Prediction Today| Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Sixers Key Players | AS vs SS Dream11 Prediction
Just three days after the Strikers and Sixers went head-to-head in Coffs Harbour, the two sides battle again, this time in the Adelaide Oval sunshine.
Sydney Sixers are the form side in BBL09. They have won four straight games, which is a welcome change from their win-loss pattern of last season. They have the chance to go top of the table against Adelaide Strikers, with the home side looking to keep pace with the top two: Stars and Sixers.
Amid the talent on show in this one, which side will hold their nerve better in the important stages?
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
- Josh Philippe was outstanding three nights ago against the same opposition (83 off 52). His onside play was particularly superb.
- Justin Avendano hit the ground running straight away in his campaign. He scored 47 off 33 balls in the last game. Another good game awaiting?
- Jake Weatherald vs Sixers at Adelaide Oval last season: 50 (40). But, it has been Jono Wells who continues to be consistent for the Strikers.
- Wells has 138 runs vs Sixers for only one dismissal. Also, his scores in BBL09 have been very solid: 55*, 18*, 68*, 20, 26, 40*.
- Alex Carey in BBL09: 6 matches, 234 runs, avg. 39.00. He averages the exact same vs Sixers (39).
- Harry Nielsen could play his first game of BBL09. He was named man-of-the-match in Prime Minister XI’s T20 win over Sri Lanka in October (79 off 50 balls).
- Tom Curran’s last two games (1/58 and 0/40) have been underwhelming. However, his all-round ability means he is always one to watch in T20s.
- Ben Dwarshuis had a poor night in the field in Coffs Harbour, conceding 40 and dropping two catches. However, he has 11 wickets in six games vs Strikers.
- Josh Hazlewood enjoyed a solid return to cricket with 1/18 last game.
- Lloyd Pope is enjoying a good run: 1/15, 3/23, 2/22 and 2/41. His opposition leg-spinner, Rashid Khan, is an all-round threat to the Sixers: 85 runs at SR 197.67 and eight wickets in six games in BBL09.
- Michael Neser had a poor night in the field last game, dropping a crucial catch and conceding 20+ in the penultimate over. But, his hitting (25 off 15) and ability to take wickets makes him a key man.

Head-to-Head
- Matches 11, Strikers 5, Sixers 6.
- Sydney Sixers chased down 177 vs Strikers three nights ago.
Key to an Adelaide Strikers win
The Strikers held on with the ball despite not taking regular wickets in the first 10-15 overs of the Sixers innings three days ago. However, their death bowling, as well as their fielding, has to be areas for improvement here. But first, can they get the better of the in-form Sixers’ top order?
Also, with Jono Wells playing so beautifully in the middle order, the top order can play with freedom knowing they have an in-form batsman to come. Phil Salt, Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey have it in them to put the Sixers under significant pressure, of which the likes of Michael Neser and Rashid Khan can finish off.
Key to a Sydney Sixers win
Josh Philippe was so good in Coffs Harbour. It’s one thing to favour the legside, but to execute so well so often, particularly after a steady start, is an encouraging sign. Even without Moises Henriques, the Sixers top order has the likes of Justin Avendano, Daniel Hughes and James Vince to set the all-important platform.
Also, can the Sixers’ bowling attack get the better of the Strikers’ top order? Weatherald and Salt can provide the fireworks, while Wells and Carey can keep things ticking. The Sixers need regular wickets to restrict the home side.
Possible Playing 11
Harry Nielsen has joined the Strikers’ 13-man squad and is considered a good chance of playing, having replaced Cameron White.
Adelaide Strikers: 1. Phil Salt, 2. Jake Weatherald, 3. Alex Carey (c & wk), 4. Jono Wells, 5. Harry Nielsen, 6. Matt Short, 7. Michael Neser, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Harry Conway, 11. Billy Stanlake
Sydney Sixers have named an unchanged 13-man squad. Assuming Steve O’Keefe continues to be hampered by his calf injury, it will likely be the same XI. Moises Henriques is unavailable due to the birth of his first child.
Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. Justin Avendano, 3. Daniel Hughes, 4. James Vince, 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Tom Curran, 7. Jack Edwards, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Jackson Bird, 10. Josh Hazlewood, 11. Lloyd Pope

Match Prediction
An interesting game in store on a Wednesday afternoon in Adelaide.
This one could genuinely go either way, with both sides possessing their strengths. Sixers to build on their great form? That’s where I’m leaning towards.
