BBL09 Match 39: SS vs HH Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | SS vs HH Dream11 | Sydney Sixers vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview Dream11 Prediction | Sydney Sixers vs Hobart Hurricanes Key Players | SS vs HH Dream11 Prediction
After a lengthy wait due to the New Year’s Test, Sydney Sixers are back home at the SCG in the run home to the playoffs.
The Sixers are coming off a Marcus Stoinis-led thumping. But, they have showed their ability to put wins together this tournament, and they will back themselves against a struggling Hobart Hurricanes side.
The Hurricanes, bowled out for 98 a few nights ago, look shot of confidence; they have really struggled without D’Arcy Short, James Faulkner and Riley Meredith. Sitting three points outside the top five, this is a must-win for the men in purple.
However, there is plenty of rain around in Sydney (and greater NSW), which is of relief to fire and drought-affected communities. But, can the Hurricanes be relieved and get a positive result?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
- Depleted attack? Josh Philippe needs to pounce. He has scored just six and eight in his past two games, so this is a chance to deliver.
- Philippe scored 86* off 49 in the corresponding match last season.
- George Bailey has scored 43 and 36 in his past two games. With the Hurricanes missing key experience, Bailey has proven to be a key man in the middle order. Bailey vs Sixers: 222 runs, average: 44.40.
- Matthew Wade vs Sixers at SCG last season: 64 off 51 balls.
- Moises Henriques averages just 18 in nine innings vs Hurricanes. Can he step up tonight?
- David Miller has been in poor form; he averages just 13 in BBL09. But, could a rain-affected game have him play with freedom?
- Caleb Jewell: frustration. He has made six scores over 20 in BBL09, with his highest score being 31. Can he finally convert a start?
- James Vince has 92 runs in two knocks vs Hurricanes. He scored 74* off 50 balls in the corresponding match a year ago.
- Tom Curran has been hot-and-cold recently (1/58, 0/40, 4/22 and 1/58). But, his all-round ability makes him a threat vs Hurricanes (123 runs and 14 wickets in BBL09).
- Qais Ahmad was extraordinary the last time these teams met, taking 4/12. Conditions will be different in Sydney than Alice Springs, though, and he needs a step-up based on recent form.
- Scott Boland so far in BBL09: 2/29, 3/16, 1/33 and 1/45.
- Lloyd Pope has had a good tournament. His last game vs Stars (0/25) was the only time he went wicketless in a run of six games. Previous five games: 1/15, 3/23, 2/22, 2/41, 2/33.
Head-to-Head
- Matches 11, Sixers 5, Hurricanes 6.
- Hobart Hurricanes defended 129 against Sixers in Alice Springs earlier this season.
Possible Playing 11
The Sixers bowlers, particularly Ben Dwarshuis, had a bad time last game vs Stars. They conceded over 200 runs and took just a single wicket, in the final over. An improvement is needed.

Simon Milenko has been dropped by the Hobart Hurricanes. Mac Wright comes in, and could slot into the top six.
Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Matthew Wade (c), 2. Caleb Jewell, 3. Ben McDermott (wk), 4. David Miller, 5. George Bailey, 6. Mac Wright, 7. Clive Rose, 8. Tom Rogers, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Qais Ahmad, 11. Scott Boland
SCG Pitch Report and Conditions
The SCG has had something for everyone this summer. Runs have been scored in the Test and BBL09, with batsmen rewarded for time in the middle. However, bowlers, particularly spinners and pacers who bowl cutters well, have had a good time of it too.
The weather forecast is for rain in Sydney today and over the coming days. While this is not good news for cricket, it is good for the bushfire and drought-affected communities.

Match Prediction
Rain, sometimes heavy, is forecast right throughout the day in Sydney. So, the chances of a full game of cricket look grim.
If there is a result, it is hard to go past the Sixers given how poorly the Hurricanes have been playing.
