CPL 2020 Match 12: GAW vs JT Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | GAW vs JT Dream11 Prediction Today | Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs Key Players | Queen’s Park Oval Pitch Report
The Caribbean Premier League is all set to enter its second leg as the action moves from Tarouba to Port of Spain. The 10 matches so far have filled with entertainment for the fans and are rich in cricketing talking points.
Jamaica Tallawahs take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in what is the second reverse fixture of the CPL 2020. The two teams met a couple of days ago at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium as the Warriors came out victorious in the low-scoring yet thrilling encounter.
The 5-time runners up set, what seemed at first, a paltry target of 119 with contributions from Brandon King, Chanderpaul Hemraj and Ross Taylor. In reply, the Tallawahs were reduced to 4-3 inside the first 20 balls. The 2-time champions could only manage 16 in the powerplay and lagged behind in the chase ever since. In the last four overs, the Rovman Powell-led side needed 58, but even some late strikes from Jamaican talisman Andre Russell couldn’t avoid the defeat.
So, this game is vital as both teams are stranded in the middle of the standings, in third and fourth position respectively. Both teams have been a part of two defeats, but the Tallawahs have played three games while Guyana have played four, with a loss last time out against Zouks. So, can the Tallawahs gain some revenge and beat the Warriors this time?
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
- Nicholas Pooran was the lone warrior for his side against the Zouks in the last match of the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium’s leg as he finally struck some runs (68 off 49 balls). GAW will hope that he carries this form against the Tallawahs.
- Inspite of golden duck and 4 in his last two games, Shimron Hetmyer remains the leading run getter in the tournament so far (138) and poses a threat to the JT attack.
- A big game for Glenn Phillips? He has scored 102 runs so far in CPL 2020 at a SR of 130, including one fifty.
- After conceding at over 10 RPO in the first game, Imran Tahir has come back strongly and is the second-highest wicket taker in the tournament so far with eight wickets. His match up against Asif Ali, Rovman Powell and Andre Russell will be one to watch out for. Tahir is coming off a superb spell of 3/22 vs Zouks.
- Mujeeb ur Rahman- The Afghanistan turner has bowled at an economy rate of 4.67 and has been the spearhead of the Tallawahs bowling attack. He has six wickets in the tournament, only behind Scott Kuggeleijn and Imran Tahir.
- Sandeep Lamichhane has also been economical with an ER of 5 RPO and that’s what makes the duo dangerous as they arrest the flow of runs of the batting side.
- Keemo Paul also has six wickets in the tournament to date, with best figures of 4/19. A wicket-taker in T20s.
- Chris Green took 2/10 against Jamaica Tallawahs a few days ago.
- Andre Russell- The big hitting Jamaican all-rounder has been a pale shadow of himself in the tournament so far, although there were glimpses of the beast that he is in the fag-end of the previous game (52* off 37 balls). The return of form of Russell remains crucial for JT’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs.

Stats and Facts
- Guyana Amazon Warriors have been victorious in six out of the last seven matches against the Tallawahs, including three wins in three matches.
- They will be meeting at this venue for the first time ever. Both the teams have played 10 matches each, JT have won six while the Warriors have won four.
- Andre Russell is one run away from completing 300 runs against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Queen’s Park Oval Port of Spain Pitch Report and Conditions
The average total in T20s at Port of Spain is 134. Conditions, while they might suit batting a little more, won’t change too much from what they were at Tarouba. There is a chance of some thunderstorms during the day.
Possible Playing 11
GAW recently made two changes as Nedd and Smith came in. Nedd was economical as he picked the solitary wicket but Smith got two wickets but conceded at 8.5 RPO. Both the bowlers will most likely get another game this season, but it will be interesting to see whether Naveen-ul-Haq, who was rested against the Zouks, comes in.
Guyana Amazon Warriors XI: 1. Brandon King, 2. Chandrapaul Hemraj, 3. Shimron Hetmyer, 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Nicholas Pooran (wk), 6. Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, 8. Chris Green (c), 9. Odean Smith/Naveen-ul-Haq, 10. Asthma Ned 11. Imran Tahir
As for the Tallawahs, Oshane Thomas was drafted in the previous game but bowled a solitary over for 24 runs. It remains to be seen if he gets another game here.

Match Prediction
Both Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs haven’t quite played up to their potential so far. But as the action shifts to a new venue, the teams may expect a change in fortunes. As things stand, GAW will start as favourites, and can win if they negotiate the threat of spinners Mujeeb and Lamichhane.
