It’s been a season of the houdini for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. They are five wins from five in CPL 2021, but they have been in difficult positions on numerous occasions.

None more so than their last encounter against the Royals. 106/6 after 16 overs chasing 161, the game looked all but over until Dominic Drakes and player of the match Sheldon Cottrell pulled off some stunning late hitting, including a six off the final ball to seal victory. This is after Sherfane Rutherford produced the goods in the three of the previous four matches, leaving last season’s wooden spooners sitting very pretty atop the CPL 2021 table.

Today, they meet last year’s finalists St Lucia Kings in an important match for Faf du Plessis’ men. Roston Chase led the way as the Kings got their season on track with a big 51-run win over Guyana, courtesy also of effective bowling. They will arguably have to be even more effective against the seemingly endless batting SKN lineup, which makes for an exciting contest.

This will be the first meeting between these two sides in CPL 2021.

• Andre Fletcher has the most runs in SKN-SLK matches. He has hit 296 runs in 11 matches at an average/strike rate of 29.60/130.40. He scored 81* two games ago vs champions TKR.
• Tim David has two low scores (0 and 15) since his superb knocks of 58 (29) and 44 (32) earlier in CPL 2021. He will be key in the finisher role for SLK.
