CPL 2021 Match 16: GUY vs BAR Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | GUY vs BAR Dream11 Prediction Today | Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Barbados Royals 16th Match Key Players | St Kitts Pitch Report
Guyana Amazon Warriors will be looking to shrug off the scars of the 51-run shellacking that they received at the hands of St Lucia Kings in their previous fixture when they square off against Barbados Royals on Saturday.
Chasing 150, the Amazon Warriors were knocked over for a mere 98 with none of the batsmen barring skipper Nicholas Pooran (41 off 26 balls) and Odean Smith (31* off 18 balls) notching up double figures.
They will now lock horns with a struggling Barbados Royals unit which is currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. The Royals have managed a solitary win in their first five outings and they will come into this game on the back of a two-wicket defeat at the hands of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots where they failed to defend 8-160 in remarkable fashion.
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Guyana Amazon Warriors
- Nicholas Pooran: Pooran has been the most impactful batsman for the Warriors in CPL 2021 but the issue is that the southpaw is batting too low down the order. Even in the last game, Pooran scored a 26-ball 41 but he was left with too much to do in the end.
- Pooran enjoys batting against the Barbados Royals. In 6 outings he has scored 115 runs at an average of 57.80 and a strike rate of 118.56.
- Brandon King: He may have struggled for runs in CPL 2021 thus far (37 runs in 5 innings at 9.25), but it is fair to say that King relishes batting against Barbados.
- King, with 278 runs at an average of 92.67 and a strike rate of 144.04, is the third highest run-scorer of all time in Guyana-Barbados CPL encounters.
- Shoaib Malik: He is yet to light up CPL 2021 but just like Brandon King, the veteran all-rounder loves batting against Barbados. He has 364 runs at 45.50, which is the 2nd highest in Guyana-Barbados encounters and the Amazon Warrior fans will hope he turns back the clock in the next game.
- Shimron Hetmyer: He is the leading run-scorer for Guyana this season but his side will be hoping for more consistency. In 5 innings, Hetmyer has managed 146 runs at an average of 29.20 with two 50+ scores but his strike rate of 111.45 has been underwhelming.
- His record against Barbados: 116 runs in 8 innings at 16.57.
- Odean Smith: He had a brilliant outing in the last game as he claimed three wickets besides chipping in with an unbeaten 18-ball 31.
- Romario Shepherd: He claimed three wickets in the last game to take his tally to nine scalps in just three innings- the most by a Guyana Amazon bowler this season.
- Shepherd loves bowling against Barbados. In six innings he has claimed 12 wickets at an average of 11.58.
Barbados Royals:
- Glenn Phillips: The Kiwi international is the second-highest run-scorer for Barbados this season. In five innings he has scored 127 runs at 31.75 with one 50-plus score. The Royals will hope for another match-winning contribution from him in the next game.
- Azam Khan: He is the leading run-scorer for Barbados this season. In five innings, Khan has racked up 129 runs and it has come at a healthy strike rate of 146.59.
- He could only manage a 4-ball 8 in the last game and Barbados will hope he chips in with a big score against Guyana on Saturday.
- Smit Patel: Patel announced himself in CPL 2021 with a half-century – a 48-ball 54 – in his maiden outing in the last game against St Kitts. He will, however, be looking to improve on his strike rate in the upcoming fixtures.
- Johnson Charles: The opener scored two sixes and a couple of fours during his 26-ball 30 in the last game but he failed to kick on and convert it into a big score.
- Charles’ record against Guyana is poor. In six games, he has managed a mere 94 runs at an average of 15.97 and a strike rate of 132.39.
- Nyeem Young: The young right-arm seamer claimed three wickets in his last outing and the Barbadians will hope he carries his form in the next game.
- Raymon Reifer: The left arm pacer is the 2nd highest wicket-taker for Barbados this season – five wickets in three innings at 18.40.
- He claimed two wickets in the last game against St Kitts. Reiffer loves bowling against Guyana. In nine innings, he has claimed 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.12.
