GT vs SRH Twitter Reactions: Great Gill eliminates SRH | Virat Kohli reaction to superb century by Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill’s swashbuckling century has helped knock the disappointing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. GT defeated SRH by 34 runs as Gill powered the home side to 188 in the first innings on a deck that other batsmen struggled to get going on.
In the process, he brought up his maiden IPL ton in a year that is just turning out to be extremely special for the in-form batsman. Accordingly, he also carried on his brilliant run of performances in Ahmedabad, having earlier slammed a T20I and Test century in this ground as well.
GT vs SRH: Gill and bowlers eliminate disappointing SRH
Here are some of the most viral reactions on Twitter on Gill’s knock including from India teammate Virat Kohli. On Instagram, Kohli said “there’s potential and then there’s Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you, Shubman Gill.”
“I made my IPL debut against SRH and got my first hundred against them, so life has come a full circle. Hopefully many more to come. It’s all about the bowlers and situation and I don’t dwell much on my last innings. It is important to focus on the situation in front. The six off Abhishek Sharma was the most pleasing thing for me. I told him that if you bowl to me I’m gonna hit you for a six,” Gill said in the aftermath of the game.
Meanwhile, SRH have crashed out of the tournament after eight losses in 12 games. A revamped unit under a new skipper failed to take off with many key players like Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi under-performing throughout the course of the campaign. They walked into the auction with the biggest purse and made several big-ticket acquisitions like those of Agarwal and Brook. But, the team failed to come together on multiple occasions with an apparent lack of clarity regarding the roles of several individuals.
GT have qualified for the playoffs again now and skipper Hardik Pandya praised his boys for showing up and performing well whenever the situation demanded them to.
“Very proud of the boys, two in two (making it to the playoffs twice in a row). The boys put their hands up and in challenging situations and we rightly deserve the playoff spot. There will be expectations and for me it was important to focus within the group,” Pandya said after the game.
