Cricket News: Image of Jasprit Bumrah in nets excites fans | Jasprit Bumrah back training in the nets after long layoff

Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah is returning to cricketing action soon as a picture of him bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) nets in Bengaluru is going viral now.

Bumrah posted a short video on his socials on Tuesday morning and captioned it tagging the official handle of the Indian cricket team. The pacer has been sidelined since September 2022, when he last played in the T20I series against Australia. He has undergone multiple rehabilitations since then due to successive injuries that have repeatedly delayed his comeback.

India fans excited to see Jasprit Bumrah in the nets

In the meanwhile, the 29-year-old has missed multiple important assignments in the past year. He sat out of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup in Australia in October-November. Post that, he was slated to come back into the team as India hosted Sri Lanka and New Zealand in limited-overs’ assignments in January.

However, that was not to be and even his return in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was pushed back. Many expected him to at least feature in the final two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but suddenly news broke out that Bumrah will be out of action for the entire duration of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as well.

India will desperately need Bumrah back in the squad for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup later this year. The team has underperformed in ICC tournaments for a decade, and they will need their pace bowling spearhead in the ranks to lift a home World Cup for the second time after 2011.

Bumrah debuted in ODIs in 2016 and he has played 72 matches in the 50-over format so far. He has taken 121 wickets at an economy rate of 4.64, making him one of the greats in the format.
