Cricket News: Jonny Bairstow run out reactions – fair or not? | Reactions to Jonny Bairstow’s run out during fifth day of Lord’s Test

The Ashes continues to be the source of weird and wonderful moments. The latest was a run out you’d see in park cricket which got the crowd and Stuart Broad fired up in their chase of 371.

Jonny Bairstow, after ducking a bouncer off Cameron Green, wandered out of the crease almost straight away. Alex Carey threw the ball at the stumps before England’s keeper-batsman wandered out of the crease, but Bairstow walked down the pitch and was eventually stumped.

The incident prompted an atmosphere never before seen at Lord’s. Boos and abuse rung around the stands and Long Room, with Usman Khawaja involved in a heated exchange with a member.

Of course, the debate was rife on Twitter. Many believe it was careless by Bairstow but others believe the dismissal is against the spirit of cricket.

What’s your view? Was Alex Carey right to run Bairstow out? Or is it against the spirit of the game?
