Cricket News: Reactions to Zak Crawley’s 189 as England dominate | Twitter reactions to Zak Crawley’s 189 off just 182 balls
Bazball truly is a gift that keeps on giving. The aggressive approach from England once again took the Australian bowlers by storm.
An unshackled Zak Crawley, thanks to the new fearless Bazball style of play, scored 189 off just 182 deliveries on day two of the third Test as he missed out on a terrific double ton by just 11 runs. He took advantage of overly straight bowling by the Australians early, and looked good for a big score once he got set despite some luck at times.
Indeed, Crawley never looked back after he got to his fifty. It was sheer carnage from lunch onwards. Joe Root came out all guns blazing as well. He notched up 84 off just 95 deliveries. The 226-run stand between Crawley and Root made the Australians look second rate, with the World Test Champions looking rattled for most of the day.
Australia were not as clinical in the field as they would have wanted, and some chances went begging. The pair kept finding the gaps seamlessly and were rarely troubled by the bowlers. The fair ease with which the duo cruised to their scores was an indictment of Australia’s incompetence, with the spotlight on their decision to leave out a specialist spinner and persistence of very defensive fields.

Earlier, Chris Woakes completed his five-for and Moeen Ali, who was promoted to number three, also bagged a 50 and laid the platform for Root. Here is how Twitter reacted to Zak Crawley’s 189, the Root-Crawley partnership and more.
