Cricket News: Twitter reactions to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Test hundred on debut | Reactions to Jaiswal’s first Test century
In what has been a one sided affair so far, Yashasvi Jaiswal racked up a scintillating ton on Test debut for India against West Indies. At the end of day two, the left-handed batter remained unbeaten with 143 runs to his name already.
The 21-year old has looked untroubled. The youngster’s confidence and composure has been applaudable. A century on Test debut is incredible, and more so when it comes away from home.
However, what has been most impressive about this knock has been his patience and clarity of thought. The way he has batted after getting to his hundred is the best example of his persistence. Instead of throwing his wicket away, he has been hungry for more runs. That is a brilliant sign for India, and an indication that this ton is the first of many.
He has already faced 350 deliveries, and is set for more. It never looked as if it was a debutant batting in his first even Test innings. Rohit Sharma also bagged a ton, and was dismissed only after putting up a sensational 229-run opening partnership with Jaiswal.
West Indies looked hopeless and wasted reviews in desperation. The bowling did not look threatening enough either, and unless something miraculous happens, the game seems to be done for.
