Delhi Capitals (DC) will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 4th match of IPL 2025. This will be both sides’ first game of this season. The match will be played at Vizag on March 24th.

DC finished 6th in IPL 2024, and we’ve seen some big changes in their squad since then. They let go of Rishabh Pant, who interestingly went to LSG. The opposite happened with KL Rahul, who is now at DC after being released by the Super Giants. 

Faf du Plessis and Mitchell Starc are other big names who will be playing for DC this season. Axar Patel will lead them in IPL 2025. Mohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar will be the key bowlers for the Capitals. The Delhi Capitals have a solid-looking batting unit and a good bowling attack as well, and can hold their own at the death.

Meanwhile, LSG’s squad construction has come in for some criticism. They don’t have any overseas bowlers except Shamar Joseph, who lacks experience at this level. They have Matthew Breetzke, Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, David Miller and Nicholas Pooran as their key overseas players, with batting the focus.

The side is filled with too many left-hand batters with Shahbaz Ahmed also there in the squad. Abdul Samad and Ayush Badoni will be the key domestic batters. Avesh Khan and new recruit Shardul Thakur will be the lead pacers for Lucknow. Ravi Bishnoi will lead the spin attack. Overall, LSG looks like a batting-heavy side and they will depend on their batters to win them games.

A good wicket with plenty of runs will be on offer for this game. The pacers will get some movement with the new ball and there might be something for the spinners as well. However, the ball will come onto the bat nicely allowing the batters to play their shots. 

Two games were played at this venue in IPL 2024 and both were won by sides batting first. KKR scored a mammoth 272/7 against DC and then DC scored 191/5 against CSK and won the game. Despite this, teams are expected to prefer chasing if they win the toss.

It will be a clear day with no chance of rain. It will be quite hot and humid with the temperature being around 27-28 degrees Celsius at game time. Humidity will be around 80% so dew can be a factor.

Top Wicket-Keeper Picks: 

• KL Rahul is amongst the most consistent batters of the IPL. He scored 520 runs in 14 games last year at an average of 37.12 with a strike rate of 136.12 including four fifties. Rahul has been in top form lately and will be a must in your fantasy teams. 
• Rishabh Pant scored 446 runs in 13 games last year. He scored 106 in two games at Vizag last season including fifties in both games. Pant is expected to bat in the top order and he will be a top C/VC option.
• Nicholas Pooran smashed 499 runs in 14 matches last season at an average of 62.37 and strike rate of 178.21 with three fifties. Try him as C/VC in your fantasy teams as he can win games on his own.

Key batter picks: 

• Faf du Plessis is another very consistent performer in the IPL in the last few editions. He scored 438 runs at an average of 29.20 and strike rate of 161.62 with four fifties to his name. Faf’s recent form has been good and he will be a top C/VC option as well.
• Jake Fraser-McGurk is going through a forgettable phase with the bat. He has failed to score runs since the last IPL where he scored 330 runs in 9 innings at an average of 36.66 at a whopping strike rate of 234.04. Despite this, he can fire on a good batting pitch.
• Tristan Stubbs hit 378 runs in 14 games last season at an average of 54 and strike rate of 190.90. He was one of the best batters for the Capitals and will be an excellent pick in fantasy cricket. 

Top all-rounder picks: 

• Axar Patel can bat at number 4 if required and will bowl his full quota as well despite the number of lefties in LSG. He scored 235 runs and picked up 11 wickets last year. He will be a decent C/VC option as well. 
• If selected, Aiden Markram will open the batting for LSG. He was in good touch in SA20 but he’s yet to have a good IPL season with the bat. Markram will enjoy the batting conditions at Vizag and can score big on his day. 

Key bowler picks: 

• Kuldeep Yadav picked 16 wickets in 11 games last year at an economy of 8.65. 13 of those came in the middle overs. He will be a key bowler for his side against LSG’s left-hand heavy batting unit. Kuldeep will be a must in your fantasy teams.
• Mitchell Starc will bowl the key overs for DC and can pick up 2-3 wickets easily on his day. He can trouble LSG’s top order if Pant doesn’t open the batting.  

Other Players to Consider for Your Fantasy Cricket Team 

• David Miller will be a key batter for LSG in the middle order and he can change the course of the game on his own. Miller will be an excellent differential pick in fantasy cricket. 
• T Natarajan took 19 wickets in 14 games last season. He will bowl two overs towards the end of the innings and will be a good fantasy pick while bowling first.
