Deepak Chahar has beaten Covid-19 and will return back to the Chennai Super Kings squad on Wednesday. Post recovery, CSK’s Twitter page posted a picture of the young seamer as he looked healthy and was all smiles for the cameras. Last month after the team landed in UAE, Super Kings has cases in clusters leading to delay in the IPL schedule. Around 13 members from the squad had tested positive and were asked to stay in quarantine.

According to IPL protocols, the members were in a two-week recovery followed by two tests. After getting two negatives, Chahar was brought back to the nets. CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, “Except for the Indian batsman, who is in quarantine, all others have come out. The Indian fast bowler has tested negative twice and is back,” Kasi Viswanathan, the Super Kings’ CEO told ESPNcricinfo.

As for the Indian uncapped player, Viswanathan said that this individual was still under quarantine but was “fine with no symptoms”.

The league started with quite a few roadblocks as two of their star players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh decided to quite the season for personal reasons. Reportedly, Raina left the training due to his family emergency back in India, while other reports suggest that he couldn’t survive the bio-secure bubble that the players are subjected to be in all through the tournament. On the other hand, Singh never joined the squad in UAE.

He tweeted saying, “Dear Friends I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL. Stay safe and Jai Hind”.

CSK will face 2019 champions Mumbai Indians on September 19 in the opening game.
