HUR vs SCO Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 8 | HH vs PS Dream11 Prediction Today | Launceston Pitch Report

Will the real Hobart Hurricanes please stand up? Blessed with talent right throughout their lineup, the Hurricanes started off BBL 12 the same way they finished BBL 11. Underwhelming.

Their overall performance against the Stars left so much to be desired. Joe Clarke took them apart, while the batsmen couldn’t get going, much like last season. In what is looking a competitive competition, you don’t want to be falling too far behind the pack too early.

So, the Hurricanes’ chance to make a statement is here against the reigning champions Perth Scorchers. Despite losing a number of players to various reasons, the Scorchers once again highlighted their incredible depth, thrashing Sydney Sixers despite being in trouble at one stage. But, the short turnaround from Saturday and the long flight over from Perth is another challenge to contend with here, but the Scorchers often find a way.

BBL 2022/23 Match 8: HUR vs SCO Possible Playing XI

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Ben McDermott, 2. D’Arcy Short, 3. Matthew Wade (c & wk), 4. Shadab Khan, 5. Tim David, 6. James Neesham, 7. Asif Ali, 8. Joel Paris, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Patrick Dooley, 11. Riley Meredith

Perth Scorchers: 1. Adam Lyth, 2. Faf du Plessis, 3. Nick Hobson, 4. Josh Inglis (wk), 5. Ashton Turner (c), 6. Aaron Hardie, 7. Ashton Agar, 8. Jhye Richardson, 9. Matthew Kelly, 10. Andrew Tye, 11. Jason Behrendorff

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Hobart Hurricanes:

  • Ben McDermott is key for the Hurricanes. He smashed the most runs in BBL 11 (577, avg. 48.08, SR 153.86). However, he has a sub-par record vs Scorchers: 11 inns, 176 runs, avg. 19.56, SR 127.54.
  • D’Arcy Short has scored the most runs in Hurricanes-Scorchers matches (338) at an average of 42.25 and strike rate of 119.01.
  • But, Short struck at just 113.26 in the entire BBL 11 season, so whether he can dominate a good Scorchers attack remains to be seen.
  • Matthew Wade, like McDermott, will be seeking to improve his record against the Scorchers. Since January 2018, Wade has scored 160 runs in eight innings at an average of 20. This includes one score of 71.
  • Shadab Khan when batting at number four in all T20s: 23 inns, 599 runs, avg. 26.04, SR 152.42. Also, Shadab was one of the top bowlers in the recent T20 World Cup: 7 inns, 11 wickets, avg. 15.00, econ. 6.34.
  • Riley Meredith has conceded just 5.88 in two T20s at Launceston (three wickets). He is also economical historically against Scorchers (6.75), with eight wickets in seven matches at an average of 18.00.
  • Nathan Ellis vs Scorchers: 6 matches, 9 wickets, avg. 22.22, econ. 8.70. Ellis has also taken five wickets in three matches at Launceston at a strike rate of 14.

Perth Scorchers:

  • Adam Lyth missed out on BBL debut, but he is one to watch here. In 25 short-form matches this year, the left-hander has smashed 828 runs at an average of 34.50 and strike rate of 177.68.
  • Faf du Plessis can fire at any moment. The experienced batsman has hit 1,243 runs in 46 knocks this year at an average of 31.08 and strike rate of 138.88.
  • Josh Inglis and Aaron Hardie could be key in the middle. Inglis has scored 143 runs in six innings vs Hurricanes at a strike rate of 147.42. Hardie hit a crucial 55 off 32 last game vs Sixers.
  • What a return to cricket for Jhye Richardson. He is coming off a brilliant spell of 4/9 vs Sixers.
  • Richardson has dismissed McDermott twice for 26 runs in 21 balls in T20s. He also has a great record against Matthew Wade, with figures of 3/19 off 18 balls.
  • Ashton Agar has the most wickets in Scorchers-Hurricanes matches. The left-arm spinner has taken 12 wickets in eight matches at an average of 16.33 and economy of 6.32.
  • Agar has dismissed McDermott twice in 19 balls in T20s, conceding just 16 in the process.

University of Tasmania Stadium Launceston Pitch Report and Weather

The Launceston track usually offers some assistance with the new ball, before settling into a decent batting track. In five men’s BBL matches since the start of January 2019, the average first innings score is 160.6 at a run rate of 8.34. The team batting first and second won two games each, with the other match washed out.
