After a walk in the park win in the first game of the three-match T20I series, Afghanistan will be hoping to challenge India more in the second game at New Delhi.
Afghanistan will have to be at their best with the bat, as their batters just failed to get going in the first game. If not for the 83-run partnership between Azmatullah Omarzai (64* runs) and Mohammed Nabi (33 runs), they would’ve struggled to reach even three figures.
Afghanistan is heavily dependent on their top three. With Omarzai and Nabi scoring with the bat, the top three of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, and Sediqullah Atal must take responsibility. Darwish Rasooli and Gulbadin Naib will be key batters for the hosts in the middle order.
Bowling-wise, they struggled badly. None of the bowlers looked threatening, and all were taken to the cleaners by the Indian batters. Afghanistan will have to pick up early wickets if they are to put India under pressure. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb ur Rahman will have a lot on their shoulders. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad too have a key role to play.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma (82 runs) and Ishan Kishan (42 runs) blasted away the Afghans with a 121-run partnership in just 53 deliveries. Sanju Samson (10 runs) was dismissed cheaply, and time may be running out for him, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sitting on the bench for India.
Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Varma are the key batters in the middle order, with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dube being the designated finishers. Not to forget Axar Patel, who can bat anywhere.
Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah bowled well for India, and Axar Patel also did a great job, but the depth with the ball seems to be an issue for the Indian side. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dube were expensive in the last game. Varun Chakaravarthy is out of the series due to injury so Ravi Bishnoi should replace him.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi Pitch Report and Weather
An excellent batting wicket awaits both teams ahead of the second game. The ball will come onto the bat nicely, and the batters can play their shots trusting the wicket. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan showed that there wasn’t anything in the wicket that the batters would have to be cautious about. There will be little to no movement with the new ball for the pacers.
Spinners will be important, but the boundary dimensions will be a headache for them.
A clear day will await both sides. The temperature will be in the late 20s (Celsius) at the start of the game. Humidity will be around 80% when the match starts.
Fantasy Cricket Tips for AFG vs IND 2nd T20I: India top order to dominate again?
Top Wicket-Keeper Picks:
- Ishan Kishan has been in sublime form in the last 6-8 months. He’s scoring runs for fun and has been very aggressive in his approach. Kishan will bat at 3 for India and will take on the bowlers from the word go. He will be a must-pick for this game and a good C/VC option too.
- Sanju Samson will also look bat aggressively. He has lacked consistency in scoring big runs, but he will score big the day he gets going. Sanju is an excellent player of spin bowling, and he can take the down the Afghan bowlers when on song.
- Rahmanullah Gurbaz was in top form in the Shapgeeza T20 2026 and in the CPL 2026 before coming to this series. He was dismissed cheaply in the first T20I, but he’s the best batter for his side and will be a must in your fantasy teams. Gurbaz can take down the spinners; he just needs to be cautious against India’s new ball burst.
Key batter picks:
- Abhishek Sharma is a no-brainer for this game. He’s one of the best T20 batters in world cricket and has been very consistent despite his ultra-aggressive approach. He will attack from the first ball and won’t stop. Abhishek scored 82 runs in the first game, and he will be a popular C/VC option.
- Shreyas Iyer likes to target the spinners, especially wrist-spinners, and Afghanistan is expected to have a bowling attack of 5-spin bowlers. Iyer will be a key batter for India at number 4, as he can bat according to the situation. He’s an ideal pick if India bats first.
Top all-rounder picks:
- Azmatullah Omarzai scored 64* runs and picked up a wicket as well. He’s a match-winner for Afghanistan with both bat and ball. He hits a long ball and can bowl in any phase of the innings. Omarzai will be a top C/VC choice too.
- Mohammed Nabi, with all his experience, will be a top fantasy pick. He’s been in good form with both bat and ball. Nabi will be a wily bowler and proven performer with the bat too. Â
Key bowler picks:
- Jasprit Bumrah will be a must in your fantasy teams. He picks up wickets at any time of the innings, and it’s very difficult to hit him for big runs. He can swing the new ball and has excellent variations to go with his street smartness.
- Arshdeep Singh will trouble the Afghan batters with his swing early on in the innings. He goes for runs at times, but he’s a consistent wicket-taker. Try him as C/VC in some of your teams as he bowls at the death.
Other Players to Consider for Your Fantasy Cricket Team
- Ibrahim Zadran.
- Sediqullah Atal.
- Shivam Dube.
- Rashid Khan.

The only way Afghanistan can win this game or defeat India in India is by picking up early wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Fazalhaq Farooqi will be the key players for that. They’ll also have to do well with the bat, but picking up early wickets will be a must for them.
