IND vs SL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: Asia Cup 2022 Match 9 | IND vs SL Dream11 Prediction Today | Dubai Pitch Report

India and Sri Lanka play each other so often that it’s almost a tradition to see these two sides line up against one another. But, none of the contests in recent years beared the kind of importance that this clash does, with a spot in the Asia Cup 2022 Final on the horizon.

India’s close defeat to Pakistan two nights ago has increased the pressure levels significantly on Rohit Sharma’s team. Should they lose, they will need to beat Afghanistan and hope Pakistan lose their final two matches against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka respectively. It’s a big ask.

So, will we see a positive Indian approach or one that is struck down by worry? If the Pakistan game is evidence, we should expect more positivity in the powerplay. However, any mini collapse in the middle overs is crucial to avoid, so the spotlight on Rishabh Pant and the in-form Hardik Pandya will be shining brighter on them. Similar applies to Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar after moments in the death overs they’d rather forget.

Sri Lanka’s excellent run chase against Afghanistan – their second big chase in as many matches in this Asia Cup – has the Lions very close to an appearance in Sunday’s Final. This is some effort after an embarrassing defeat in their first match of the tournament, so confidence should be sky high as they attempt to put India on the brink of elimination. Expect Sri Lanka to go hard, especially in the middle overs with Bhanuka Rajapaksa and co. coming into this match in fine touch.

IND vs SL Possible Playing XI

India could look at another bowling option in R Ashwin to counter Sri Lanka’s left-handers in the middle order.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. KL Rahul, 3. Virat Kohli, 4. Rishabh Pant (wk), 5. Suryakumar Yadav, 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Deepak Hooda, 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9. Ravi Bishnoi, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal/R Ashwin, 11. Arshdeep Singh

Sri Lanka will likely stick to the same team that beat Afghanistan.

Sri Lanka: 1. Pathum Nissanka, 2. Kusal Mendis (wk), 3. Charith Asalanka, 4. Danushka Gunathilaka, 5. Dasun Shanaka (c), 6. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 7. Wanindu Hasaranga, 8. Chamika Karunaratne, 9. Maheesh Theekshana, 10. Asitha Fernando, 11. Dilshan Madushanka

IND vs SL T20I Head-to-Head Stats & Key Players

India:

  • KL Rahul’s 20-ball 28 against Pakistan doesn’t look amazing on paper, but his approach was refreshing with some incredible shots. He has an excellent record against Sri Lanka: 7 inns, 295 runs, avg. 42.15, SR 141.15.
  • Virat Kohli is having a good Asia Cup so far (154 runs), with two half-centuries in three matches. Also, he has a superb record against Sri Lanka: 6 inns, 339 runs, avg 84.75, SR 140.66.
  • Suryakumar Yadav smashed 50 at a strike rate of 147.06 in his only T20I vs Sri Lanka, played last year. In T20Is this year, he has scored 527 runs at an average of 40.53 and incredible strike rate of 188.21.
  • Suryakumar is brilliant when chasing. In nine innings batting second in T20Is, he has scored 339 runs at an average of 56.50 and strike rate of 170.35. In 15 innings batting first, he has struck 432 runs at an average of 30.85 and strike rate of 181.51.
  • Hardik Pandya had a day to forget vs Pakistan (0 and 1/44). Interestingly, he has a poor batting record vs Sri Lanka (6 inns, 55 runs, avg. 9.17), but he has the ability to turn this around.
  • Sri Lanka have lost five wickets in the powerplay in this Asia Cup. So, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has taken 13 wickets at an economy rate of 5.63 in the powerplay this year, will be key.
  • India may be tempted to play R Ashwin to counter Sri Lanka’s left-handers, as well as the fact that the off-spinner has taken 13 wickets in just six T20Is vs Sri Lanka at an average of 8.62 and economy of 4.91.

Sri Lanka:

  • Kusal Mendis has struck scores of 60 and 36 in his last two matches. He enjoys opening in T20Is, with 545 runs in 17 matches at an average of 34.06 and strike rate of 142.30.
  • Bhanuka Rajapaksa is the gamechanger in the middle. He has scored 71 runs in this Asia Cup at a strike rate of 151.06, including a crucial 14-ball 31 against Afghanistan.
  • Dasun Shanaka had a terrific series against India earlier this year. The captain scored 124 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 196.82.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga has taken 10 wickets in five T20Is vs India, although a few of those matches were played against a COVID-ravaged India last year. In this tournament, the legspinner has taken three wickets in as many matches at an economy of 7.54.
  • Left-armer Dilshan Madushanka will be key upfront. Rohit Sharma has been dismissed 44 times by left-arm seam in 789 balls in all T20s (average of 17.93 balls per dismissal).

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 25, India 17, Sri Lanka 7, N/R 1.
  • Hardik Pandya has taken nine wickets in eight T20Is against SL at an average of 17.33 and economy of 6.69.
  • Rohit Sharma will be glad Dushmantha Chameera is unavailable (six dismissals). The India captain will be looking to improve on a sub-par record vs Sri Lanka: 16 inns, 339 runs, avg. 21.19, SR 138.93.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has taken the most wickets in IND-SL T20Is (17) at an average of 16.41 and economy of 8.21. But, he has taken just one wicket in three matches in this Asia Cup.
  • Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa all struck 30+ scores against Afghanistan.
  • Kusal Mendis has a strike rate of 163.33 in this Asia Cup, the best of any Sri Lanka player.

Dubai Pitch Report and Weather

There have been five scores above 180 in the last three matches at Dubai. Chasing teams are still reigning supreme, with all matches not involving Hong Kong won by the team batting second. You feel that 185+ might be crucial for the team batting first to stand a better chance.

Temperatures will be hot once again. So, dew may not play a factor.
