IND vs WI 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | St Kitts Pitch Report
India’s T20I batting revolution was on show again, with Dinesh Karthik making the strongest of cases to be selected in the T20 World Cup squad. With his side reduced to 138/6 with just four overs to go, Karthik, who continues to get better with age, provided another reminder of the importance of batting depth in this format.
Karthik’s 19-ball 41 included 26 off his final eight balls to get India to a big score of 190. The visitors’ new attitude is most exemplified in Rohit’s post-match statement that the odd failure is fine in such a style of play, but in saying that, there is still room for improvement, such as their execution against left-arm spin and Rishabh Pant’s form in T20Is.
However, West Indies are in need of far greater improvement. They were poor in their planning and execution, playing to India’s strengths on numerous occasions. One area is picking just spinner in conditions that often suit, with India’s spinners then taking five wickets between them. Also, after a promising start with the bat, West Indies lost wickets far too regularly, and that will be an area of focus today.
IND vs WI 2nd T20 Possible Playing 11
Expect West Indies to play another spinner. Also, Brandon King and Romario Shepherd are set to return after missing the first T20I due to US Visa requirements.
West Indies: 1. Kyle Mayers, 2. Brandon King, 3. Nicholas Pooran (c & wk), 4. Jason Holder, 5. Rovman Powell, 6. Shimron Hetmyer, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Akeal Hosein, 9. Keemo Paul/Hayden Walsh Jr, 10. Alzarri Joseph, 11. Obed McCoy
India picked three spinners in the first T20I, which meant Harshal Patel missed out. It remains to be seen if India persists with the three-spinner approach; in ten T20Is on this ground, pacers have taken 71 wickets at an average of 17.
Also, India may look to open with Rishabh Pant again.
India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Rishabh Pant (wk), 3. Shreyas Iyer/Deepak Hooda, 4. Suryakumar Yadav, 5. Hardik Pandya, 6. Dinesh Karthik, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. R Ashwin, 9. Ravi Bishnoi/Harshal Patel, 10. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 11. Arshdeep Singh
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
India:
- Rohit Sharma started the T20I series with a classy 64 off 44 balls. West Indies bowled plenty of deliveries in his favoured short of a length, so it will be interesting to see how the Windies adjust.
- Rohit has the most runs in IND-WI T20Is: 19 inns, 649 runs, avg. 40.56, SR 140.17.
- Dinesh Karthik’s dream year continued. In all T20s this year, he has struck 468 runs at an average of 52.00 and strike rate of 178.62.
- Suryakumar Yadav has a strike rate of 184.50 in four T20Is vs West Indies. He looked good against pace in the first T20I, but his issues against left-arm spin will be under the microscope.
- Hardik Pandya had a quiet outing in the first T20I. However, he can fire at any moment. The all-rounder recently set a new Indian record and has scored 641 runs at an average of 45.79 and strike rate of 136.97 in T20s in 2022.
- Ravi Bishnoi has taken five wickets in four T20Is against West Indies this year. He has conceded just 6.37 runs per over in the process.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s excellent form in the powerplay has continued. The seamer has taken four powerplay wickets in his last three T20Is. Overall in 2022, he has 25 scalps in 24 T20s at an economy of 7.28.
West Indies:
- Nicholas Pooran hit three 50s in a row in India earlier this year. Also, he started in promising fashion in the first T20I of this series, before edging one through off Ashwin.
- Pooran has batted 19 times in T20s on this ground for 403 runs at an average of 26.87 and strike rate of 142.20.
- Rovman Powell missed out in the first T20I (14 off 17 balls). However, a key reason for that was the poor platform set by the top order. The right-hander has a good record vs India, still: 8 inns, 203 runs, avg. 33.83, SR 142.95.
- Shimron Hetmyer has an average of 41.00 and strike rate of 149.77 in T20s this year. However, can he improve on his poor record on this ground? 15 inns, 256 runs, avg. 19.69, SR 112.28.
- Romario Shepherd has an excellent record at St Kitts. He has taken 20 wickets in 12 T20s at a strike rate of 12.90 deliveries per wicket. He has also slammed 109 runs at a strike rate of 165.15.
- Jason Holder had a tough outing in the first T20I (1/50 and 0). Also, in 20 T20s on this ground, he averages just 15.07 with the bat and 33.50 with the ball. But, he has the ability to improve on these numbers.
- Expect the Windies to bowl Akeal Hosein to Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar has been dismissed 13 times for 302 runs against left-arm orthodox in T20s (avg. 23.23) at a strike rate of just 102.02.
