India vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11. IND vs AUS 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction
The first ODI somewhat went to script. Australia tried hard with the bat, but lost wickets in those crucial middle overs. Two of India’s top three then fought hard, with MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav hurting Australia for the second ODI in a row.
With England underwhelming in West Indies, India can be considered World Cup favourites. They are covering more bases with each passing game, with their bowling attack continuously proving itself as the best in ODIs. Their batting against the swinging ball remains an area of concern, but their middle order has done the job in their past two ODIs. Will India create even more optimism with 2-0 series lead in Nagpur?
Australia had their moments in Hyderabad. However, familiar issues remain. The last two ODIs against India have been very similar, scoring in the 230s and then feeling the pain from MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav. Aaron Finch has now gone 20 consecutive innings without a 50 in white-ball cricket. They continue to lose wickets in the middle overs, without taking many themselves in the same period. The ingredients are there for a good ODI side, but they have to start turning good moments into good results. If they go 2-0 down here, there is surely no coming back.
Key to an India win
India’s bowlers continue to impress. They have been superb in 2019 so far, and even with Jasprit Bumrah not quite at his best in Hyderabad, they still restricted Australia to a modest total. With Aaron Finch struggling and Usman Khawaja still making his mark in ODI cricket, India have a great opportunity for early wickets. Also, those middle overs will be crucial, which calls for more tight overs from the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Kedar Jadhav as Kuldeep Yadav works his magic to the likes of Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell. Will they again force Australia to struggle in the death overs?
Also, that India are picking up good results with their top three not at their best is encouraging. However, India can push Australia further into the mire with a strong top order display. With the middle order, particularly MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav, in fine touch recently, it could be a long day for the Aussies if a strong platform is set. Will Shikhar Dhawan hit some form in what has been an underwhelming few months? What about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after last-match starts?
Key to an Australia win
The Australian captain continues to struggle. Will it be the day Aaron Finch fires? How he handles Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah could be key to the result, and it might see him play with a very attacking mindset. If he can pull it off, it enables Usman Khawaja to get settled into his innings, which then sets a platform for the middle order. However, Australia have to guard against wickets in the middle overs due to dot balls, which halted their progress in Hyderabad. Who will put their hand up for a long innings that sets Australia up for a strong push in the final overs?
Also, Australia have been able to get into India’s line up. This is no mean feat against such a prolific top three. The challenge, however, is to maintain wicket taking prowess throughout the innings. Wickets in the middle overs is a big difference between the sides right now, and Australia need to find ways to get wickets. Will the seamers deliver another strong start? Can Adam Zampa build on his promising showing last match? Who will get MS Dhoni out if given the chance? Again, the ingredients are there for Australia, but need regular wickets.
Possible Playing 11
Vijay Shankar was quite poor with the ball in Hyderabad. However, India could stick with the same team given the batting depth Shankar and Ravindra Jadeja provide. After all, they did win the match.

Key stats and notes:
- India have twice hit 350+ vs Australia in Nagpur. They chased down 351 in 2013.
- MS Dhoni has four half centuries in a row vs Australia, with his last three unbeaten.
- Dhoni also has a superb record at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. He has 268 runs in five matches at 134.00.
- Virat Kohli has 209 runs in four matches at 69.66. Rohit Sharma has 204 runs in two matches at 102. Shikhar Dhawan has a century in his only match. Picking at least two of the Indian top three is a good bet. Is Dhawan worth going for with his form the way it is?
- Usman Khawaja is coming off an encouraging half century. Peter Handscomb remains one of Australia’s better players of spin, even though the first ODI didn’t quite show it.
- Marcus Stoinis is wicketless in the last five matches he has bowled in. However, he always remains a quality option.
- Kedar Jadhav was man of the match in the last game. Pat Cummins’ record vs India in ODIs continues to underwhelm (four wickets at 79.50).

Match Prediction
Australia will fight hard again. Whether Shaun Marsh can deliver right away in his (expected) return is another matter, but Australia will have their moments.
However, they don’t seem to be sustaining those moments for long enough. India are looking strong at the moment, and will take this match out to take a 2-0 series lead.
