IPL 2019: DC vs SRH Preview Dream11 Prediction. Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview Dream11 Prediction
Preview co-written by N.S. Shekhawat
Yesterday, it was the battle between two of IPL’s most successful teams. Today, two exciting teams go head-to-head, with both sides sure to be motivated to get one over the other. Both teams have won two games a piece, but the journey to get there has been very different.
Delhi Capitals have shown plenty of promising signs. However, they have struggled in the crunch moments, nearly losing the unloseable vs KKR and then losing the unloseable vs KXIP. While their batting isn’t weak, they haven’t found their rhythm down the order. At the moment, this aspect of their game looks to be the worst of all teams, after losing seven wickets for eight runs to throw victory away last time out. Can they bounce back?
With Sunrisers Hyderabad back in action, eyes are surely set to be glued to TV screens. They are having a dream IPL 2019 so far, bouncing back brilliantly after a first-up loss to KKR. Their openers are just fantastic, both scoring centuries last game, en-route to three consecutive 100-plus partnerships. After the complete performance vs RCB, where they also knocked them over for 113 with Nabi taking four wickets, SRH are primed for another win. Will they do it?

Key to a DC win
DC’s bowlers have their work cut out against the strong SRH top order. Kagiso Rabada has been in fine touch in IPL 2019, and he will be key in breaking the Warner-Bairstow partnership early in the piece. His own partnership with Chris Morris will be of importance, given they combined for five wickets vs KXIP. They were able to make some inroads that night, so can they do the same tonight? Can DC ensure the likes of Sandeep Lamichhane and his spin partner(s) get a shot at SRH’s middle order as early as possible?
Also, it is no secret should have won the last game. To lose seven for eight is unacceptable. Rishabh Pant’s wicket sparked a collapse in both the KXIP and KKR matches, so he has a key role to play as finisher. The same applies to Colin Ingram, who has scored runs but hasn’t been able to complete the job. Prithvi Shaw will be a key player, along with Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer keeping the strong SRH attack at bay. Can DC’s top order deliver the goods?
Key to a SRH win
If there were issues with SRH’s batting in IPL 2018, then David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have overcome them completely. Warner has scored 254 runs at 127, along with Bairstow who has scored 198 runs at 66. SRH are now one of the most feared lineups, but can they put together another complete display today? If the likes of Kane Williamson (if available), Yusuf Pathan and Manish Pandey are needed, can they overcome DC’s attack and deliver what is needed for the team? Indeed, if Warner and Bairstow get going again, like Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell did at this ground, then watch out.
Also, it would have been pleasing for SRH that they bowled well last match. Sure, it was against struggling RCB with 231 to defend, but the efficiency in which they went about their work is cause for confidence. Rashid Khan is in great touch, going at economy of just 6.25. His Afghan teammate Mohammad Nabi is also in good touch, fresh off four wickets at an economy rate of 2.25. However, with the spinners bowling well, can SRH’s seamers hold their own at the death – a period DC struggle in? Bhuvneshwar Kumar in particular has been under par, and he has to deliver with Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul bowling pretty well.
Possible Playing 11
DC could look to bring in Amit Mishra in place of Avesh Khan
DC: 1. Prithvi Shaw, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Colin Ingram, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Hanuma Vihari, 7. Chris Morris, 8. Axar Patel, 9. Kagiso Rabada, 10. Avesh Khan/Amit Mishra, 11. Sandeep Lamichhane

It will be interesting to see if Kane Williamson has overcome his injury niggle and is fit to return. If he does, Mohammad Nabi is likely to miss out, which makes SRH’s all-round stocks weaker. Nabi would certainly be unlucky if this proves to be the case.
SRH: 1. David Warner, 2. Jonny Bairstow, 3. Kane Williamson (c)/Mohammad Nabi (6), 4. Vijay Shankar, 5. Yusuf Pathan, 6. Manish Pandey, 7. Deepak Hooda, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Sandeep Sharma, 11. Siddarth Kaul
Dream11 Prediction
Opinion: Did Dream11 make the right call changing the deadline time?
Key stats and points:
- The pitch at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium is expected to be on the slower side.
- Rishabh Pant has threatened to go big again after his amazing 78* (27) vs MI. Also, he scored a magnificent 128* (63) vs this opposition at this ground in IPL 2018. He averages 62.80 vs SRH, at a SR of 162.
- However, how can Jonny Bairstow be ignored? He has scored 198 runs in three innings so far in IPL 2019.
- Prithvi Shaw is coming off a golden duck, but scored a superb 99 (52) vs KKR. Also, he scored 65 (36) vs SRH last season.
- Leaving out David Warner is a huge risk. He was IPL 2017’s top run scorer, and hasn’t missed a beat in IPL 2019 (254 runs in three matches at 127).
- Shikhar Dhawan, who played for SRH, has never versed them. His form has been steady enough in IPL 2019 to warrant consideration (43, 51, 16, 30).
- Shreyas Iyer has two half centuries in six innings vs SRH (190 runs in total at 38.00). Colin Ingram has been underwhelming at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium so far in IPL 2019 (scores of 2 and 10), but has looked solid enough away from home to warrant consideration.
- Yusuf Pathan has faced just 19 balls in IPL 2019. Manish Pandey just five. The best option for SRH in the middle order is Vijay Shankar (scores of 40* and 35 in recent games). Mohammad Nabi, if picked, will be a handy option. He is coming off a four-wicket haul vs RCB.
- Rashid Khan was man of the match in the SRH win over DC at Hyderabad last season. He was underwhelming in the match at Delhi. However, he is bowling very economically, and is threatening. A slightly turning track will suit him.
- Siddarth Kaul is wicketless in his last two games, but had a great IPL 2018. Kagiso Rabada has six wickets in four matches so far this season.
- Chris Morris has taken four wickets in two matches, but this will be his biggest test so far. His all-round abilities makes him one to be considered.
- Sandeep Lamichhane has started IPL 2019 well, taking three wickets in two games.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 51 runs on this ground in IPL 2018. Also, he is yet to take a wicket in three matches this season. Sandeep Sharma is coming off 3/19 vs RCB.

Stats and Facts
- Head-to-Head: Matches 12, DC 4, SRH 8. At Delhi, SRH have won three of four games vs DC.
- Interestingly, SRH have won just one of their last six outside Hyderabad.
- SRH have not lost a wicket before the 9.4 over mark in IPL 2019.
- DC play three away games in ten days after this match.
Match Prediction
This one is another good game in prospect.
Can DC bounce back after a horrible capitulation vs KXIP? Can they get into SRH’s middle order which has barely been tested so far? They are capable, but SRH seem to have that little extra resources-wise, which is why N.S. Shekhawat and I pick a SRH win.
On a streak of two correct predictions in a row – here’s to three!
