IPL 2019 Eliminator 1: DC vs SRH Preview Dream11. Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview Dream11 Prediction
Preview co-written by N.S. Shekhawat
So, the first Eliminator is here. Is it simple to assume who might go through? SRH, while they are fortunate (and perhaps due to Robin Uthappa), can cause a big impact if they play their best cricket.
Indeed, Delhi Capitals have had a superb season but they aren’t without their issues. Kagiso Rabada is out of the tournament, which is a huge setback for them even though they swept RR aside on Saturday. The Purple Cap holder has 25 wickets in 12 matches. Also, Prithvi Shaw is out of touch, but DC have enjoyed playing away from Delhi more, and this game at Vishakhapatnam could be a catalyst for victory depending on how the pitch behaves. DC, despite missing a chance to finish in the top two, are playing with enough confidence to suggest they are favourites.
Sunrisers Hyderabad can count their lucky stars. They have qualified for the playoffs with more losses than wins, capturing 12 points. SRH relied significantly on David Warner and Jonny Bairstow early in the tournament. Then, it was David Warner. Then, Manish Pandey. It is now time for others, including Yusuf Pathan, to deliver key runs in the final overs for SRH. Can they cause a surprise and go on to play CSK in the second Eliminator?

Key to a DC win
As mentioned, Prithvi Shaw has underwhelmed since his promising start to the season. So, his role will be to support Shikhar Dhawan well, setting a platform for the rest to build on. Dhawan, DC’s top run scorer (486) and captain Shreyas Iyer, DC’s second-highest run scorer (442) will be key against SRH’s pace attack and Rashid Khan. With Rishabh Pant also with over 400 runs for the season, DC have three of their top four in good form. Also, don’t forget Colin Ingram, Sherfane Rutherford and Axar Patel.
Kagiso Rabada’s absence, though, has to be catered for. Ishant Sharma has been a silent hero for DC, and even though Chris Morris has had a difficult second half of IPL 2019, he still has 13 wickets and is more economical at the death. Trent Boult is also a key man at all stages. With Rabada often delivering two fine overs at this stage, DC have to bowl well at the death without him. What will help them achieve this is if they get the better of SRH’s top four, of whom they rely significantly on for runs.
Key to a SRH win
SRH’s batting has not fired the way they would have liked in recent times. However, the form of Manish Pandey is reason for hope, along with Kane Williamson who was in the runs vs RCB. Martin Guptill and Wriddhiman Saha need to provide a good start, and given SRH’s struggle at the death, you feel at least one of Guptill, Pandey or Williamson need to be there at the death. Also, can Vijay Shankar build on his innings vs RCB? Will it be the day Yusuf Pathan fires?
But, SRH’s strength lies in their bowling. Their two Afghan spinners can play a significant role in their quest for victory, with Nabi possibly a good option against Dhawan early and then Rashid keeping things tight against Pant in the middle overs. However, what can the seamers produce? Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be crucial in the powerplay and death period, with economical bowling the least SRH need from him. With Khaleel Ahmed in wicket-taking form, SRH need a cohesive bowling effort to get the better of DC.

Match Prediction
Can SRH peak at the right time of the season?
Without Warner and Bairstow, though, SRH don’t look as strong. The same can be said of DC without Rabada, but the Capitals look a more confident and well-rounded side. DC to win.
