RCB vs KXIP Preview Dream11. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kings XI Punjab Preview Dream11 Prediction

With two absolutely thrilling finishes in a row at the Chinnaswamy, what on earth does Tuesday have in store?

Royal Challengers Bangalore have kept their very faint playoff hopes alive with two heart-stopping victories when easy wins looked certain. Against KKR, they had nearly thrown it away after KKR needed 113 off the final six overs. Against CSK, Umesh Yadav’s final ball slower ball saved his blushes, barely defending 26 off the final over. With a net run rate so far off their rivals, RCB need to win all their remaining four games to even stand a chance of a miraculous playoffs appearance. Can they make it three wins in a row?

Kings XI Punjab have hit a bit of a wall. They were the first team to lose to RCB this season, which is now part of three losses in their past four games. It is a reminder of their collapse in the second half of last season, where they lost six of their last seven games to finish second last. However, there have been plenty of signs to suggest they have improved in IPL 2019, and a desperate RCB will be a significant challenge. Can Ravi Ashwin’s men get a crucial win to move back into the top four?

Key to a RCB win

Two straight wins for RCB, but that is not without heart attacks in the death overs. They have conceded a total of 148 runs in the 10 death overs across their matches against KKR and CSK, which has been a problem for years. So, RCB need a bit of a rethink in strategy, perhaps leaving two overs each for Dale Steyn and Navdeep Saini, with a focus on executing yorkers. However, RCB will also need to continue their excellent powerplay form to win this game, especially considering Steyn has been an excellent addition at this phase. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle will be key wickets, which then puts pressure on the middle order to score big and fast against the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal on a high-scoring ground.

Also, that RCB won vs CSK with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers having under-par outings is cause for encouragement. Parthiv Patel’s contributions at the top are important, as he can help RCB make strong progress in the early-middle overs along with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The two legends are crucial as always, but with Moeen Ali playing his final game of IPL 2019, RCB will want one more strong contribution from the in-form all-rounder before he leaves for England duty. Can RCB overcome KXIP’s attack and get themselves in a position to launch in the death overs?

Key to a KXIP win

KXIP’s batsmen will surely be keen to move from the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to the Chinnaswamy. All struggled against DC except for Chris Gayle, who overcame the slower conditions much better than his teammates. Here, great batting conditions await, so the onus is on KL Rahul and Chris Gayle to provide a rapid start that the middle order can build on. Indeed, one of the biggest questions is which batsmen will take advantage of RCB’s struggles at the death? David Miller, anyone?

Also, can KXIP’s bowlers keep things quiet? Their seamers have been expensive in recent matches, and Bangalore is a place where runs can be difficult to control. To give themselves the best chance, KXIP need to get the better of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, with their spinners then making RCB force the pace. Mohammed Shami, who was good last game vs DC, will be a key man in the powerplay. However, like the batting, who will step up at the death?

Dream11 Prediction

Key stats and points:

  • KL Rahul is very familiar with the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, scoring 302 runs in 11 innings at the ground (average 37.75).
  • However, Parthiv Patel is also an option. He is coming off a half century, and has a fine record vs KXIP: 540 runs in 16 innings at 38.57 (SR 134.00).
  • You would be brave to leave Chris Gayle out. He has over 1,500 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with three centuries and an average of 41.57. Against RCB, he has 191 runs at 63.67 (SR 146.92).
  • Virat Kohli has scored 180 runs in four innings at Bengaluru this season. AB de Villiers has 175.
  • David Miller has a century vs RCB, but his overall century vs them is below 30. This falls to below 20 in Bengaluru. However, he is a dangerous player at the death.
  • Mayank Agwarwal to fire? He has a disappointing record at Bengaluru (avg. 19) and vs RCB (avg. 16), but has promised throughout IPL 2019.
  • Moeen Ali = must pick? He has 174 runs in his last four innings, and four wickets too.
  • Both Mandeep Singh and Sarfaraz Khan are familiar with Bengaluru. Room for either? The risk here is the batting time they will get.
  • What about Umesh Yadav? He has 26 wickets in 17 games vs KXIP at 18. He was man of the match against KXIP in Bengaluru last season.
  • Mohammed Shami has three wickets in two IPL matches at Bengaluru. M Ashwin is another option, but he has taken just one wicket in his past four matches, despite being economical. Keep an eye out if Mujeeb ur Rahman or Andrew Tye play – they are wicket taking options.

Option 2:

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 23, RCB 11, KXIP 12.
  • RCB have won their last three games against KXIP.
  • Navdeep Saini has the best dot-ball percentage of any bowler between overs 17 and 20 (45.8%).

Match Prediction

Expect fireworks. Firepower in both sides makes this an exciting game in the making. It is must-win for both teams, which adds to the spectacle.

With RCB’s solid recent record vs KXIP, and a home crowd behind them, I back RCB to get a win and make it three straight wins.
