IPL 2021 Match 9: MI vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | MI vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Today | Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Key Players | Chennai Pitch Report
In the last outing, Mumbai Indians clinched a win from the jaws of defeat. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad found themselves on the other side of the coin while playing against RCB. Both sides will now go head to head in a crucial game in the early stages of IPL 2021.
Rohit Sharma’s side was asked to bat first in their last match and was kept in check by KKR bowlers. At the end of the 20 overs mark, they managed a total of 152 runs. The top performers from MI camp were Suryakumar Yadav (56 off 36 balls) and Rohit himself (43 off 32 balls). The big concern in the batting lineup is their lower order, compromising of Hardik, Krunal, and Pollard, not taking the responsibility of finishing. This middle order is considered the team’s engine, so they need improving after losing 7 wickets in the last 5 overs.
In the chase, Mumbai’s bowlers were awe-inspiring. They exhibited a top-class bowling display yet again when their side was down, and showed the world they are a champion side for a reason. Rahul Chahar was majestic (4/27), and needless to say he was chief of the MI bowlers.
After losing the last match, SRH Captain David Warner was mighty disappointed. In the post-match conference, he was quite vocal; “A very bitter pill to swallow. Our bowlers were fantastic to restrict them. We needed two set batsmen at the end, but we failed to do that. We needed to build a partnership and play proper cricket shots. We played cross-batted shots, and that’s not the way to play here“. They were right in the game until Shabaz from RCB came to bowl the 17th over and knocked them down.
Now, SRH face the prospect of losing their first three games. A crucial match awaits against the back-to-back champions.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Mumbai Indians:
- Quinton de Kock – Quinny was back in the playing 11 for the previous match but did not do much damage with the bat. However, he has a fondness towards Warner and that reflects in his record against SRH. In his 9 innings, he has 331 runs at an average of 41.4. He will be our preferred choice for the C/VC role in all leagues.
- Rohit Sharma – SRH has managed to keep Hitman quiet for a long time now. Against SRH he just has 227 runs from his 16 innings at an average of 17.5. His average further drops down to 13.2 while batting second.
- Suryakumar Yadav – Yadav has 208 runs from his 12 innings at an average of 23.1 vs SRH. His average goes up to 35.5 while batting second. He is coming off an excellent half-century vs RCB.
- Ishan Kishan – Kishan has 151 runs from his 6 innings at an average of 25.2 vs SRH. 5 of the 6 innings have come while batting first. However, since IPL 2020, Ishan Kishan has been in superb form. One to watch.
- Kieron Pollard – Polly is having a quiet IPL so far. But, this could be his game. His record tells he enjoys playing against SRH. In his 14 innings, he has scored 383 runs at an average of 42.6. However, the top order of Mumbai is well stacked which limits Pollard’s spot to a 1-2 GL team.
- Hardik Pandya – Like his captain, Pandya also does not has the best record against SRH. In 8 matches he just has 5 wickets and 89 runs at a below-par average of 12.7.
- Krunal Pandya – Senior Pandya has 3 wickets 177 runs from his 9 innings at an average of 29.5 vs SRH. His strike rate of 158.04 is very impressive.
- Trent Boult – Boulty has 5 wickets from his 6 innings against SRH. He has been a part of SRH earlier in his IPL career.
- Jasprit Bumrah – Boom Boom has 12 wickets from his 10 innings against SRH.
- Rahul Chahar – Chahar got his best IPL figures in the last match (4/27) and won the match for his side. Against SRH he just has 2 wickets from his 4 innings. Both his wickets have come bowling second.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
- David Warner – Warner has 625 runs against MI at an average of 44.6 in his 18 innings. He has an identical record in both innings. He was the top scorer from SRH camp vs RCB with 52 runs off 37 balls.
- Jonny Bairstow – Bairstow has 41 runs from 2 innings at an average of 20.5 vs SRH. He was mighty disappointed with the way he got out last ga,e, and whenever Bairstow has let himself down, he has performed in the subsequent matches. He will be a good choice of C/VC in Grand Leagues.
- Manish Pandey – Pandey was heavily criticized for his low strike in the 2 matches so far and the news of missing out on the India Central contract list would also have been a blow for him. Against MI he has 578 runs at an average of 36.1 in 18 innings. His average goes upwards to 48.4 while batting first.
- Jason Holder – Holder has bowled once against MI and got 2 scalps. He is bowling crucial overs and will be a must-pick. Jason Holder got 3 wickets in his last match.
- Rashid Khan – In his 8 innings, he just has 8 wickets to his name.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar – Bhuvi has a good record against MI. In his 14 innings, he has 18 wickets at a strike rate of 15.7.

Predicted Playing 11
Mumbai Indians should persist with the same XI.
Mumbai Indians: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Quinton de Kock (wk), 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Ishan Kishan, 5. Hardik Pandya, 6. Kieron Pollard, 7. Krunal Pandya, 8. Marco Jansen, 9. Rahul Chahar, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Jasprit Bumrah
Do SRH look to bring Kane Williamson into this team? An option would be to drop Saha and elevate Bairstow to opener. Williamson could then replace Holder and bat at four.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 1. Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 2. David Warner (c), 3. Manish Pandey, 4. Jonny Bairstow, 5. Vijay Shankar, 6. Jason Holder, 7. Abdul Samad, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. T Natarajan, 11. Shahbaz Nadeem
Chepauk Chennai Pitch Report & Weather Predictions
This pitch report is from the encounter between SRH and RCB.
Murali Kartik in his pitch report said “It’s 63 meters on one side of the square, 68 on the other – so the batsmen would like to target those areas. Today is the fourth game here and the ball hasn’t swung at all. Spin would play a key role, the pacers need to use their variations, possibly cutters on this surface. This is possibly the driest of the pitches we have seen so far. This is the same pitch that was used for the second Test in the recent Test series between India and England. As a spinner, you need to bowl with a bit of rip – something that Rashid and Chahal can do. Possibly, the team winning the toss would want to bat first.”
Chennai is traditionally a slow pitch and a similar wicket is expected from this match.
