Rain is predicted again in Malahide, but the positive news is that it could clear up by the evening. For Ireland, more is required from the top order to set a platform against skilled bowling, with onus on the experienced Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie. Harry Tector, who impressed, has shown he can finish well.

Ireland:

• Harry Tector impressed for Ireland in ODIs against South Africa last year. He made another mark in the first T20I, resurrecting the Ireland innings thanks to his 33-ball 64*.
• Ireland need a contribution from Paul Stirling. He was dismissed by Hardik early in the first T20I (5) after a very lean run of form in his last five innings in the Vitality Blast: 0, 0, 0, 2, 17.
• Andy Balbirnie also missed out in the first match (0). The Ireland skipper does have the most runs of any player on this ground: 12 inns, 262 runs, avg. 23.81, SR 136.
• Craig Young was Ireland’s best two days ago, dismissing both Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. He will be key especially in the powerplay overs.
• Mark Adair also held his own as India attacked. The seamer conceded just 14 off his two overs in the first T20I. Also, he takes a wicket every 15 deliveries on average on this ground.

India:

• Ishan Kishan has been in excellent touch. He recently scored the most runs of any player in the South Africa series (206) and looked dangerous in the opening T20I (26 off 11 balls).
• Deepak Hooda could open again if Gaikwad is ruled out. He top scored for India in the first T20I (47* off 29 balls).
• Hardik Pandya in T20Is vs Ireland: 6* (1), 32* (9) and 24 (12). The India captain also dismissed Stirling in the powerplay.
• Time for Arshdeep Singh? The impressive left-armer conceded just six sixes in 50 overs in IPL 2022.
• India could also give Ravi Bishnoi a chance here. He impressed against West Indies earlier this year, where he won player of the match on debut with 2/17. His quick, accurate legspin could be difficult for Ireland to handle.
