IRE vs NZ 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | IRE vs NZ 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | Ireland vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Key Players | Malahide Pitch Report

New Zealand will face off against Ireland for the second One Day International (ODI) of their ongoing series at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground on Tuesday.

The Kiwis are coming on the back off a breath-taking victory in the first game courtesy a stupendous unbeaten century by all-rounder Michael Bracewell. Courtesy of that incredible knock, the visitors survived a scare on Sunday and they will ideally like to avoid stumbling in to a similar situation this time around.

They now have an opportunity to seal the series in the second game itself whereas Ireland can take a lot of heart from their performances for the better part of the previous encounter. On that note, let us get into the in-depth details of the forthcoming ODI.

IRE vs NZ 2nd ODI Possible Playing 11

Ireland will most likely head into this game with an unchanged playing XI. They had shown tremendous character in their batting performance on Sunday. The team will however be hoping to imbibe a fierce killing instinct to finish off the game once they open up an opportunity for the same.

Ireland: 1: Paul Stirling, 2: Andrew Balbirnie, 3: Andy McBrine, 4: Harry Tector, 5: Curtis Campher, 6: Lorcan Tucker, 7: George Dockrell, 8: Mark Adair, 9: Simi Singh, 10: Craig Young, 11: Joshua Little.

New Zealand played a pretty strong XI in the last match and yet found themselves in an unfavourable position at one stage. They will refrain from getting complacent and field a similarly prolific side in the coming match as well. However, the return of Mitchell Santner could possibly give a selection headache to Latham, especially after Bracewell’s performance on Sunday.

New Zealand: 1: Martin Guptill, 2: Finn Allen, 3: Will Young, 4: Tom Latham, 5: Henry Nicholls, 6: Glenn Philips, 7: Michael Bracewell, 8: Mitchell Santner, 9: Matt Henry, 10: Lockie Ferguson, 11: Blair Tickner.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

New Zealand:

  • Martin Guptill notched a fluent half-century (51) in the first game. The opener has played only a handful of ODIs in recent years, having featured in four, three and four of them in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively. In fact, New Zealand itself hasn’t played many ODIs in the last few years. He will be hoping to get more games under his belt prior to the ODI World Cup next year
  • Tom Latham has average and strike rate of 47.33 and 88.20 respectively in three ODIs against Ireland. He will be looking to rally the middle-order to avoid another batting collapse in this game.
  • Will Young has had a pretty volatile start to his ODI career. He has been dismissed for a solitary run on three instances but has already bagged a couple of centuries in merely six games so far. His scores read: 11*, 1, 103*, 1, 120, 1.
  • New Zealand will be expecting more out of Henry Nicholls. The middle-order mainstay scored his last ODI century (124*) 23 games ago way back in January 2019 against Sri Lanka at Saxton Oval.
  • Finn Allen has been drafted into the ODI side and is widely expected to carry forward his incredible T20 record into the 50-over game. The dynamic batsman has a terrific strike rate of 109.51 in 28 List A matches but at an arguably underwhelming average of 26.82. His ability to notch big scores without deferring from his natural instincts will be closely observed in ODIs.

Ireland:

  • Paul Stirling has been an undeniable stalwart of Irish cricket but his record against the Kiwis leaves a lot to be wanting. The opener averages 5.75 at a meagre strike rate of 46.94 in four ODIs against the New Zealand.
  • Harry Tector has swiftly emerged as a vital cog in this Irish team since debuting in July 2020. The 22-year-old has notched seven half-centuries and a century at an average and scoring rate of 46.06 and 76.32 respectively in merely 21 ODIs.
  • All-rounder George Dockrell has had a horrid time against the Kiwis in the 50-over game as well. The left-arm off-spinner averages 107 with the ball in three ODIs vs New Zealand. He has taken only a single wicket after having bowled 20 overs across these games.
  • With a batting average of 39.18 along with 13 wickets in 14 ODIs, Curtis Campher has assumed a significant role in the middle-order for the Irish side.
  • Mark Adair will need to regain his wicket-taking mojo in order to revitalise his international career. The pacer took 15 wickets in his first nine ODIs but has bagged only 10 more dismissals in the following 16 games.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Played 5, New Zealand 5, Ireland 0.
  • The last game was the first time that Ireland put forth any competitive challenge in front of the Kiwis in all their encounters so far. Prior to Sunday, New Zealand had won their ODIs vs Ireland by margins of 129 runs, 290 runs, 51 runs and 190 runs respectively.
  • Tom Latham has an incredible captaincy record for New Zealand in ODIs. The Kiwis have won 15 of the 17 games that they have played under his leadership in the 50-over game.
  • Ireland has won only one of the last five ODIs that they have played in this stadium.

Malahide Cricket Club Dublin Pitch and Weather Report

By the looks of it, the pitch will assist pacers and batsmen alike. There can be some assistance for seam bowlers early on but one can look forward to another high-scoring encounter this time around. The weather is likely to be cloudy throughout the course of the game though it will rain quite substantially in the lead up to the match.

IRE vs NZ 2nd ODI Match Prediction: Who will win?

New Zealand will have a clearer idea of adeptly facing this Irish side after the subtle shocker they received in the opening encounter. With the quality that they possess in their ranks, the Kiwis can very well be relied upon to get the job done and secure a victory in this match.
