Ireland v Zimbabwe 3rd ODI Preview Dream11. IRE vs ZIM 3rd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction
The final ODI of the ongoing ODI series will be a dead rubber.
Ireland have won their first bilateral ODI assignment since beating Afghanistan 2-1 in 2017. They did it the hard way on Friday, collapsing from a position of real strength to give Zimbabwe a shot at getting back in the series. However, they held their nerve with the ball, and have the chance to pick up their first ODI series whitewash over a Test nation in their history.
Zimbabwe’s tour of The Netherlands and Ireland was supposed to one of opportunity. It was a chance to make a statement that they deserve more opportunities. Instead, they have lost all four ODIs, with the last one particularly heart-breaking, losing by a small margin to surrender the series. Will they salvage some pride?

Key to an Ireland win
James McCollum, after a slow start to his ODI career, played his most significant innings in the second ODI. He and Paul Stirling put on a huge 111-run stand after Zimbabwe had sent them into bat, which should have flattened them. Instead, Ireland surrendered the advantage, losing their nine wickets for 131 runs, with only Lorcan Tucker saving them from an even worse collapse. Here, Ireland will want another good start, this time backed up well by the middle order.
Also, it was brilliant to see Tim Murtagh in the wickets. On a pitch offering a hint of movement, Murtagh was superb, ripping through the heart of Zimbabwe’s top order and then coming back to concede just one run off the penultimate over of Zimbabwe’s chase. However, like their batting, Ireland will want to better capitalise on good starts, which puts onus on the likes of Boyd Rankin and Mark Adair to bowl with consistency and purpose.
Key to a Zimbabwe win
Zimbabwe find themselves in a pickle. Their captain Hamilton Masakadza’s poor form has continued, which continues to put Zimbabwe onto the back foot. A poor start in the first ODI (49/3) was followed by another in the second (14/3), which has left plenty for the middle order to do. Craig Ervine in particular has been outstanding, but Zimbabwe desperately need a better start that their middle order can play off the back of, instead of having to rebuild the innings time and time again.
Also, Solomon Mire was the unlikely hero last time out, as his four wickets got Zimbabwe right back into the game. However, who will play the role of Tim Murtagh (5/21) for Zimbabwe this time? Kyle Jarvis has it in him to take the bigger wickets, as does Tendai Chatara, who were both dominant in their series against UAE earlier in 2019. Can Zimbabwe make a good start and then keep the pressure on Ireland’s middle order?
