After being ruled out of IPL 2020 due to an abdominal tear, Ishant Sharma might miss India’s Australia tour. Sharma has just played just one match in this IPL season, but after he developed acute pain in his left rib cage, the franchise declared that he won’t play for the remainder of the 13th season.
“Delhi Capitals fast bowler Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear. This injury will, unfortunately, rule him out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2020”, said the statement.
Ishant gave a wholesome performance in the Australia Test series in 2018/19 by picking 11 wickets at an average of 23.82. Ishant was expected to be picked up for the Test leg of the upcoming tour as well, but his injury is estimated to put him out of action for at least 4-6 weeks. BCCI is expected to announce the squads once the itinerary is finalized by Cricket Australia.
