As we edge closer towards the halfway mark of CPL 2022, Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinbago Knight Riders will do battle in an important clash. Conditions will be warm, and the heat will certainly be on the players to deliver as the race for the final four begins to take shape.

The Knight Riders, arguably favourites heading into the competition given their remarkable depth on paper, have not got going yet. The weather has had a say in that, with a wash out and rain-affected 80-run defeat to Barbados earlier in the week. Given conditions should be good for cricket today, Kieron Pollard’s team will be looking to create some momentum, particularly with regards to their net run rate which stands at an ugly -2.505.

Jamaica, on the other hand, have been solid. The Tallawahs, who lost Andre Russell to today’s opponents, will be motivated to build on their 2-1 start to the season and rebound after a tight defeat in a thriller against St Lucia three days ago. Raymon Reifer made an excellent start to his campaign, but more will be asked of the top order after a poor outing against the Kings. Also, if Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim continue their strong bowling form, the Tallawahs will be tough to beat.

• Brandon King has a poor record against TKR: 12 inns, 168 runs, avg. 15.27, SR 111.26. Both Khary Pierre (26 balls) and Ravi Rampaul (three balls) have dismissed King once in T20 cricket. But, he is in good touch at the moment.

Trinbago Knight Riders:

• Sunil Narine has an excellent record against Brandon King in T20s. The spinner has dismissed the opener twice in 29 balls, conceding just 17 in the process.
• Since 2016, Narine has taken 14 wickets in as many matches against Jamaica at an economy of just 6.07. Also, his 197 runs come at a strike rate of 157.60.
