Another day, another defeat for Karachi Kings. Despite Babar Azam’s 90*, the Kings couldn’t chase Zalmi’s 174, with only Ian Cockbain providing any meaningful resistance apart from the skipper.
It’s almost must-win territory now for Karachi as they are yet to win this season. This match will mark the halfway stage of their PSL 2022 campaign, and if they lose, it will be an almighty task to qualify for the playoffs in the second-half of the tournament.
Islamabad United come into this game off the back of a missed opportunity yesterday. With Colin Munro and Shadab Khan going strong and only 52 needed off the final seven overs, United looked good for a comfortable victory against Lahore. However, they slipped up, and despite their strong batting lineup, it is a handy wake up call to get back on track today.

Karachi Kings:
- Babar Azam has the most runs in Karachi-Islamabad matches with 482 runs at an average of 43.82 and strike rate of 123.59, including 62 (54) and 81 (54) in PSL 2021. The skipper is coming off a 63-ball 90* in his last match.
- Sharjeel Khan is yet to get going this season, which includes a soft dismissal last match. This could be the match he gets going as he smashed a century vs Islamabad on this ground last season.
- Ian Cockbain looked in good touch in his first match of the season (31 off 19 balls). He is coming off a brilliant Big Bash campaign with Adelaide Strikers, where he scored 239 runs in six innings at an average of 59.75 and strike rate of 141.42.

- He doesn’t have the best of numbers vs Karachi, so it will be interesting to see how he fares today. He has taken nine wickets in 13 matches against them (avg. 34.00, econ, 6.80), as well as 96 runs at an average of 19.20.
- Colin Munro has smashed two half-centuries in as many matches in PSL 2022 at a strike rate of 157.14. He was player of the match vs Karachi last season thanks to his excellent 88* off 54 balls in Abu Dhabi.
- Alex Hales has threatened to go big without doing so since his 82* earlier this season. The Englishman belted 46 off 21 balls against Karachi on this ground last season, and he is capable of producing that kind of knock here.
