Both Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are seeking a better 2024. They each missed out on the playoffs last season, with SRH in particular disappointing one and all by finishing bottom.

This season, they have made a number of changes, starting with the captain. 20 crore man Pat Cummins, who led Australia to the World Cup title in India last year, will now aim to do the same with SRH. The Orange Army’s overseas contingent is arguably the best in the league, but whether they can nail their combinations straight away is key.

• Shreyas Iyer averages 32.38 in 15 matches against SRH (421 runs, SR 115.03). He has similar numbers at Eden Gardens with 294 runs at an average of 29.40 and strike rate of 135.48.
