Cricket News: KKR vs SRH Twitter Reactions: Brook slams century as SRH sail to victory despite Rinku-Rana show | KKR vs SRH reactions
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) cruised to a victory by 23 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Friday courtesy of an incredible century by English swashbuckler Harry Brook.
The 24-year-old brought up his century off just 55 deliveries as he delivered his first impactful performance since setting foot in the league as one of its most expensive players at a cost of Rs 13.25 crore. He was well supported by the SRH skipper Aiden Markram, who struck 50 runs in 26 deliveries with two boundaries and five sixes.
The duo stitched together a 72-run partnership in 7.5 overs to steer SRH to a majestic total of 228 at the end of 20 overs, with a great contribution from Abhishek Sharma, too.
The KKR bowlers were taken to the cleaners with young spinner Suyash Sharma bearing the major brunt – conceding 48 runs in his four-over spell. Lockie Ferguson conceded 37 in his two overs as well and Indian speedster Umesh Yadav gave away 42 runs in three overs. Brook took a special liking to the KKR fast bowlers as Markram and Abhishek took down their spinners to perfection.
Rinku-Rana fail to take KKR past finishing line
However, KKR sure did breathe some life into the chase as captain Nitish Rana played an incredible knock of 75 runs in merely 40 deliveries. He found a fantastic partner in Rinku Singh, who hit four boundaries and sixes each en route his 58 runs in 31 balls. The left-handed duo ensured that Kolkata stayed in the game till the backend of the innings as they ensured that they put every bad delivery into the stands. The chase lost all its vigour with Rana’s dismissal in the 17th over and even Rinku’s late attempts were insufficient to fetch them two points eventually. KKR rounded off their innings at 205 at the loss of seven wickets.
KKR will now head over across the coast to face Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday whereas SRH’s next match is also against Mumbai – on April 18th in Hyderabad.
