Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 12th match of IPL 2025. This will be the first game of this season at the Wankhede Stadium. Historically, this has been the most one-sided clash in IPL history, with MI dominating KKR.
However, it won’t be easy for them in this game, especially given their horrendous form dating back to last season.
MI lost their last game against Gujarat Titans by 36 runs. It was a strange chase from MI’s perspective as they looked in control at one point but suddenly looked way behind. Suryakumar Yadav (48 runs) was the only batter who looked in good touch as the team underwhelmed yet again.
Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult shall enjoy the conditions at the Wankhede and they will be looking to take out KKR’s top order quite cheaply. Given MI have now lost both their games, they need a big performance in all facets of the game.
KKR, meanwhile, are coming off a good win against the Rajasthan Royals in their last match. Quinton de Kock’s 97* helped them win the game quite convincingly by eight wickets. However, de Kock must be careful in this game against Chahar and especially Boult. Ajinkya Rahane has a good record at the Wankhede and Venkatesh Iyer loves playing against MI.
Sunil Narine is expected to be available for this game. Harshit Rana has been impressive as well and Vaibhav Arora will enjoy the conditions at Wankhede. Rinku Singh and Andre Russell are yet to fire for KKR and can do so here.
In this article, we will look at the possible XIIs, Wankhede Mumbai pitch report, fantasy cricket tips and Dream11 Prediction for the 12th match of IPL 2025.

Wankhede Stadium Mumbai Pitch Report and Weather
Wankhede has had plenty of movement on offer for the pacers with the new ball and then it gets better to bat on, especially with the dew factor in the latter half. It’s expected to be similar for this match as well. Middle-order batters and new ball bowlers should dominate this game. Opening batters will be in for a big score if they survive the new ball burst.
Scores in the range of 200-220 are expected with teams preferring to chase if they win the toss. Dew is expected in this game.
The weather will be clear with no chance of rain. The temperature will be around 32 degrees Celsius at the start of the match.
Fantasy Cricket Tips for MI vs KKR: Players to Watch/Key Stats
Note: Try to pick more batters and all-rounders if you are playing on Dream11. The new point system rewards the batters heavily.
Top Wicket-Keeper Picks:
- Quinton de Kock scored 97* in the last game but he will face serious threats against Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar (see matchups below) with the new ball. De Kock can score big but his record against MI is average too: 211 runs in 10 games at an average of 23.40 and strike rate of 120 with only one fifty.
- Ryan Rickelton is yet to fire in the IPL and he will face some issues against Vaibhav Arora but he’s been in good touch lately and will be a good fantasy pick.
Key batter picks:
- Suryakumar Yadav has 447 runs against KKR in 12 innings at an average of 40.60 and strike rate of 146.10 with four fifties. He has been in good touch in the first two games and a big knock feels around the corner for him, especially while chasing.
- Ajinkya Rahane too has had his struggles against Boult and Chahar but he knows the conditions well and will be a key batter for KKR. Rahane showed his class in the first game and will look to lead from the front in this one.
- Venkatesh Iyer averages 72.40 against Mumbai Indians at a strike rate of 165.30 in six innings. His 362 runs includes three fifties. He loves playing against MI and will be an important player for his side.
Top all-rounder picks:
- Sunil Narine also struggles against Trent Boult and other MI bowlers as well. He averages only 5.60 against MI in 13 innings for his 62 runs. He has 31 wickets against them in 25 innings. Narine will be a good pick but you can avoid making him C/VC in this game.
- Andre Russell is yet to bowl this season after two games. He didn’t get to bat in the last match. Russell’s value has certainly gone down but despite that, he will be a strong fantasy pick.
- Hardik Pandya has 395 runs in 14 innings at an average of 43.90 and strike rate of 166 against KKR. He has three fifties. Pandya will be a key player for MI with both bat and ball. He has 13 wickets against them as well. He will be a good C/VC pick.
Key bowler picks:
- Varun Chakaravarthy has nine wickets in eight games against MI. He won’t get much assistance off the deck in this game but he will fancy his chances against MI’s middle order.
- Trent Boult has 13 wickets in 10 games against KKR. He has positive matchups against many of the KKR batters and can go through their batting line-up if there is help with the new ball.
- Deepak Chahar has 11 wickets in nine games against KKR. He will also enjoy the conditions at the Wankhede Stadium and can shake KKR’s top order.
Other Players to Consider for Your Fantasy Cricket Team
- Rohit Sharma has 1070 runs in 33 innings against KKR at an average of 41.20 and has struck at 128.10. Rohit has struggled badly in the first two games of IPL 2025 and will be eager to do well in this match.
- Tilak Varma
- Vaibhav Arora
- Harshit Rana (Bowling first)
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi

IPL 2025 12th Match: MI vs KKR Match Prediction: Who will win?
Kolkata Knight Riders’ middle order has looked out of touch this season. MI’s new ball attack can expose KKR’s middle order quite quickly in this game. Mumbai, on the other hand, looked rusty in the last game with the bat. But they will start as the favourites for this game. Mumbai Indians to win.
