NED vs ENG 1st ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | NED vs ENG 1st ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | Netherlands vs England 1st ODI Key Players | Amstelveen Pitch Report

It is a sign of England’s incredible white-ball depth that they could hammer 299 in 50 overs to seal the highest run chase ever in a Test at Trent Bridge and then field an incredibly strong ODI lineup a few days later. Netherlands have enjoyed famous victories over England in T20I cricket, but this is a whole different challenge against a side that looks so powerful on paper.

So, how the Dutch tackle this challenge will be interesting to see. It represents a terrific opportunity to test themselves against the best in front of their home fans, after showing some positive signs in their recent 3-0 series loss against West Indies. Tom Cooper will provide some much-needed experience, while the form of the likes of Vikramjit Singh, Max O’Dowd and Logan van Beek is something to build on.

This will be England’s first ODI after a long wait. Their last series was nearly a year ago against Pakistan, where a new-look squad sealed a famous 3-0 series win after COVID-19 ravaged through the initial team. Another opportunity awaits for a number of players to put their hands up for spots in a competitive English ODI setup going forward.

NED vs ENG 1st ODI Possible Playing 11

Tom Cooper is back in the Netherlands squad for this series. He could slot in at three.

Netherlands: 1. Vikramjit Singh, 2. Max O’Dowd, 3. Tom Cooper, 4. Bas de Leede, 5. Scott Edwards (wk), 6. Teja Nidamanuru, 7. Logan van Beek, 8. Pietar Seelaar (c), 9. Aryan Dutt, 10. Ryan Klein, 11. Vivian Kingma

England have named a very strong squad for this series. There was no room for Sam Billings. See the full squad here.

Luke Wood, despite having not played a single 50-over match in three years, is in line for an ODI debut in this series. Dawid Malan, who has two fifties in six ODIs, is expected to bat at three.

If Sam Curran is picked, he is expected to play more as a batsman as he eases in after he had a stress fracture in his back.

England: 1. Jason Roy, 2. Phil Salt, 3. Dawid Malan, 4. Jos Buttler (wk), 5. Liam Livingstone, 6. Eoin Morgan (c), 7. Moeen Ali, 8. Sam Curran/David Willey, 9. Luke Wood/Reece Topley, 10. Adil Rashid, 11. Brydon Carse

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Netherlands:

  • Keep an eye on Vikramjit Singh. In six ODIs against New Zealand and West Indies, Singh made scores of 19, 31, 25, 47, 46 and 54. He looked in good touch on each occasion.
  • Max O’Dowd struck two half-centuries in three ODIs vs West Indies on this ground recently. However, his strike rate of 66.79 is an area for improvement.
  • O’Dowd has scored 509 runs in 10 ODIs at home at an average of 56.55. This includes five half-centuries.
  • Scott Edwards is Netherlands’ leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2022. The keeper-batsman has struck 323 runs in nine matches at an average of 35.88. with four half-centuries.
  • Logan van Beek is Netherlands’ top wicket-taker in 2022 with 11 scalps in six matches at an average of 26.72. He has taken at least one wicket in each of those matches, including four wickets in three ODIs vs West Indies on this ground.

England:

  • Jason Roy comes into this series in form. He had a brilliant PSL 2022 campaign and struck 50 and 81 in his last two Vitality Blast matches.
  • Jos Buttler is expected to bat at four given his incredible form, where he recently became the second player to hit four centuries in a single IPL season. Also, Buttler has a superb record in ODIs in Europe: 59 inns, 2,021 runs, avg. 43.93, SR 120.15.
  • Liam Livingstone is one of the hottest properties in white-ball cricket. He recently smashed 437 runs in IPL 2022 at a strike rate of 182.08. He will be incredibly dangerous against a Netherlands side that has struggled at the death at times in 2022.
  • Akeal Hosein recently tormented Netherlands with spin on this ground, so watch out for Adil Rashid. He is one away from 100 ODI wickets in Europe (68 innings).
  • Sam Curran scored 69 and took 5/30 in the same game for Surrey in the Vitality Blast on June 2. But, he is expected to have a limited role with the ball, at least early in the series. Expect Moeen Ali to do some bowling in the middle overs.
  • Brydon Carse took 5/61 against Pakistan last year. He could be key in the middle overs for England.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 3, Netherlands 0, England 3.
  • This will be the first meeting between the teams outside of World Cups. The last meeting between the teams was in the 2011 edition.
  • Tom Cooper played the ODI against England in the 2011 World Cup. He scored 47 that day. Overall, he averages 48.88, but has not played an ODI since 2013.
  • Phil Salt struck eight consecutive double-figure scores in the Vitality Blast. He crossed 20 on five occasions.

VRA Ground Amstelveen Pitch Report and Weather

A warm day is forecast for Amstelveen, with a top of about 30 degrees. In the recent series against West Indies, Netherlands scored 240/7 and 214 batting first. West Indies then scored 308/5 in the third ODI, with Netherlands responding well with 288 on a good surface. Expect a good batting track in this clash.
