Adelaide Strikers are favourites to sign Ben Stokes for the 2026/27 Big Bash League (BBL) season.

According to a CODE Sports report, Sydney Sixers were previously on course to sign Stokes. However, the three-time BBL champions have turned their attention to adding New Zealand keeper-batsman Tim Seifert and England all-rounder Chris Jordan to their squad.

Jamie Overton is linked with a move to Melbourne Stars, which will open the door for Stokes to join the Strikers. “This is now very close to being a done deal. Would be a major surprise if Ben Stokes isn’t playing for the Adelaide Strikers this season.” wrote journalist Daniel Cherney on X (formerly Twitter).

Currently, Adelaide have Alex Carey, Mackenzie Harvey, Thomas Kelly, Lloyd Pope, Jason Sangha, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Tom Straker, Henry Thornton and Jerrssis Wadia in their squad.

Adelaide Strikers are seeking their first BBL title since 2017/18. They have largely underachieved since, qualifying for the playoffs just three times in seven attempts. Last season, they finished bottom of the league with three wins and seven defeats.

Elsewhere, Nick Hobson and Adam Zampa are linked with moves to the Hobart Hurricanes. Finn Allen is linked with a move to the Melbourne Stars in what may elevate them to a new level.

More to come…
