Cricket News: Galle weather forecast for SL vs AUS 1st Test: Rain expected | Rain forecast in Galle for 1st SL vs AUS Test

Sri Lanka will take on the touring Australian unit at the Galle International Stadium for the first of the two scheduled Tests of this series. The home team is on an upbeat momentum after securing an emphatic 3-2 victory in the recently-concluded One Day International (ODI) series.

However, Australia has shown shades of sublime form in this tour so far and had won the T20I series quite convincingly as well. Both the Tests will be played at Galle and here is the weather forecast for the first game.

Galle Weather Forecast

From the prevalent projections, it appears that this could be a rain-ridden Test match. The temperatures will venture around 27°C-31°C during the course of the game.

However, according to AccuWeather, a breezy thunderstorm is expected on the first day of the game on Wednesday. There are 52 per cent and 87 per cent probabilities of thunderstorms and precipitation respectively.

74 per cent cloud cover will be observed as the current situation suggests that there are high chances of rains affecting the inaugural day of the Test series. A thunderstorm is expected on the second and the fourth day of the game.

However, the probabilities of rain impacting the game will tend to gradually reduce as the Test proceeds from the first day. Optimum weather might be witnessed on the fifth day of the game with a cloudy and windy atmosphere being complemented by an occasional shower.

How should the two teams tackle the weather?

As per the current conditions, it is unlikely for a definite result to emerge out of this game. However, this prediction discounts the fact that a breezy weather could assist the seam bowlers from both the teams and trigger a couple of batting collapses. Such a scenario will push the game towards a result and spark up the series altogether. However, not much play is likely to happen in the first couple of days at least.
