Harry Dixon is widely regarded as the next big thing in Australian cricket. Ever since his eye-catching exploits during the 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, cricket pundits have felt that he can go on to become a star player for his country. He was the leading run-scorer for his side during that tournament and played a big hand in Australia’s fourth U19 title.
Dixon also had an impressive first-class debut for Victoria, where he scored 66 against Tasmania in the first innings. As far as the Big Bash League is concerned, the left-hander was acquired by the Melbourne Renegades in 2023, and made his BBL debut in 2025. Harry Dixon interview:
Below is the entire conversation between Arvind Kalyana Krishnan and Harry Dixon:
Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: Mate, ever since you started your career, be it Under-19 or domestic, all eyes are on you. You’re considered to be the next big thing. So when you play, is there any sort of pressure to meet the expectations?
Harry Dixon: There’s always been pressure in professional sport. Well, it just comes with the badge. I mean, there’s a lot of young stars out there at the moment. Everyone’s just trying to make their own path and play their own way.
Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: As far as Melbourne Renegades are concerned, I mean, last season was a forgettable one. But now with the build-up, everything looks exciting. So how excited are you for the upcoming edition?
Harry Dixon: Yeah, very excited! I think we’re building a pretty exciting squad. We’ve got a nice mix of old and young. Obviously with Fraser-McGurk (Jake Fraser-McGurk) and Peaky (Oliver Peake) they’re doing awesome stuff at the moment.
Our skipper (Will Sutherland) is in great form, he just made a hundred the other week. And if you bring in the likes of a few internationals that are going to come over; So we’ve got really exciting stuff to look forward to.
Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: Lastly year at the Renegades we had Muhammad Rizwan, and him being there attracted a lot of fans. So if you could talk about your experience sharing the dressing room with him?
Harry Dixon: He was awesome to have. Obviously, he’s played heaps of international cricket. Yeah, he’s a terrific player and he might not have had the season he would’ve liked but, I mean, just learning off a person like that that’s made heaps of international runs was just pretty cool, especially for a young person like me. Yeah, hopefully he can make a few more runs if he ever comes back.
